Thus far @LodgeRoom is my favorite's set times sharing venue. Simply the best. I dig show nights that respect both artist and audience time.
Thankful 🙏🏽
If a picture is worth a thousand words, then @farahsosa could produce an entire library. As one of the LA Phil’s photographers and mentors for the Las Fotos Project nonprofit, she expertly captures the indescribable moments we share while watching a live performance. 📸

"...Lafourcade’s love for music and culture was palpable, as she emphasized the importance of our cultural roots while seamlessly incorporating songs from her previous albums into the setlist. One of the evening's most stirring moments was when the YOLA choir joined her on stage to perform "Hasta la Raíz" and "Mi Tierra Veracruzana." The choir's harmonies elevated the performance to new emotional heights, with many in the audience rising to dance, their spirits lifted by the infectious energy..."

Just received a "what's your rate?" email. The potential client reaches out asking about my availability for a gig, then asks my rate. No other details other than a general focus.
Here's my approach for responding to these client requests. 🧵

"...As the final notes played and the crowd dispersed, I couldn’t help but reflect on how far-reaching Dilla’s influence has been in my own life. From those early days discovering his work in undergrad, to geeking out over Slum Village's albums in law school, to standing here in awe of the live renditions of his beats—J Dilla’s music has been a constant, a soundtrack to my journey. And on this night, surrounded by fellow fans and the echoes of Dilla’s genius, it was clear that his legacy will continue to inspire future generations. Battlecat did J Dilla good. Props all around."

Did you know that @LAPhil has a specialty piece? It's innovative, it's ferocious, and it's called "The Rite of Spring." Hear Teddy Abrams (@teddyconducts) conduct it at the Bowl on August 22 along with more works by Stravinsky! bit.ly/HB24ROS
