Our #EMNLP review experience was frustrating.
•2 reviewers never engaged with our rebuttal
•1 reviewer said our concerns were addressed and would be reflected in the final score—but nothing changed.
•The meta-review simply summarized the reviews and ignored our rebuttal
So, a genuine question: why do we spend days writing rebuttals if they aren't meaningfully considered?

New Anthropic research: Natural Language Autoencoders.
Models like Claude talk in words but think in numbers. The numbers—called activations—encode Claude’s thoughts, but not in a language we can read.
Here, we train Claude to translate its activations into human-readable text.

I find really bizarre that main conference acceptance rates at top #NLProc venues (*ACL, EMNLP) hover around 19-22%, while top ML venues (NeurIPS, ICLR, ICML) consistently accept 25-30% or more.
This is problematic for our community for two main reasons ⬇️
