Iām deeply uncomfortable with being in front of the camera and āover-exposureā makes me sick with anxiety but the reality of the world we live in now is that, in addition to doing the work (still very important), you have to create a public identity for yourself. Might seem like Iām stating the obvious but when you grow up thinking nothing but doing the best work you can will matter, it can be a rude awakening.
Still trying to navigate that in ways that feel authentically me, and Iāll disappear as often as I need to lol. But yeah, itās a reality Iām sadly beginning to accept lol.
Thereās a girl who creates content on IG about her profession. About a month ago, an international org. reached out to me for a role. Apparently they got hold of my CV from a similar role Iād applied for in Q1.
I declined because I now have a job.
I just thought to myself āwho do I know thatād be a good fit?ā. This IG babe came to mind & I did a recommendation putting her in contact with the recruiter.
Today she sent a message saying āI got the jobā. The power of showing up. Because wow I only knew her from her posts š®.

A symptom of low self-esteem is chasing something not because you truly desire it but because you want to prove to yourself that you can get it. You end up in a cycle of chasing things then disposing of them because itās never about the thing, itās about you questioning yourself.
