New York may be the financial capital.
Silicon Valley may be the tech capital.
Washington DC may be the political capital.
…but Miami owns the title of capital of the Western Hemisphere.

It is Florida's silver lining. While we much prefer stronger pro growth / booming economic partners to trade and invest with, we are grateful to receive capital flight and talent flight. It's Florida's secret sauce. Brazil's economy is a tragedy: Costo do Brasil. Same size economy as Florida with 10x the people and 100x the natural resources & 61x land mass. Average Brazilians suffer from the epic failure of opportunity cost & missed upside.
Who’s in Miami Today? 🌴🎤
Meet Tom, originally from Rhode Island, is the owner & operator of the Avalon hotel on Ocean Drive in Miami Beach. We asked about life, dreams, and what makes Miami…. Miami.
How would YOU finish this sentence: “Miami is ______.” 👇 @

Imagine the Supreme Court stopping the count after polls close and ordering polls reopen for two hours ONLY in Philadelphia, Detroit, Milwaukee, and Atlanta, and you sort of get the scope of what's currently happening in Brazil.
Worth the watch! Thank you @stephenasmith @POTUS @realDonaldTrump @billmaher -- nothing happens without the willingness to have a conversation with those you disagree with

Acorda, Brasil!!!

Lula’s former lawyer, now a Supreme Court justice, unilaterally extended voting nationwide 3 minutes before polls closed nationally, at Lula’s campaign’s request.
Prediction markets reacted by completely inverting who was favored to win. Lula is now highly favored.
Unreal.
Columbus and other explorers sailed the new seas during the same life time of Leonardo Da Vinci.
Innovators flourish when a certain set of circumstances exist. And they are inspired by one another too.
Greatness begets greatness.
Sad to see this!
I visited the Eagle's Nest in 2017 and it is a beautiful site and a reminder of "the insanity of the regime." It was totally presrved. The Allies never bombed it during WWII . A scene of Band of Brothers was depicted there.

A little fare seems fair if it helps keep this thing running and less packed
Unpopular opinion: they should charge $ to ride MetroMover here in Downtown Miami / Brickell.
It’s always so packed. And some people just take it for the free ride.
I’d propose a small fee (enough to justify the ticket taking) and maybe just make it a full day pass so you can get on and off for one price all day.
Include a weekly, monthly, and annual pass option — which will give a massive discount for those time periods (in comparison with buying a pass every day) for those who take it regularly for work etc.
And of course make it an electronic ticket with an app. Scan the app to enter.
I’d also encourage employers to reimburse or pay for a monthly pass for their employees.
MetroMover does not seem to have the funds or ability to expand and perhaps we who use it should chip in a few bucks to help it continue to operate and maybe eventually add more vehicles and new extensions.

In a recent National Review piece, Nau reported on a new @americanfreedom paper chronicling the cost of the Trump administration’s taxes on imports from Canada and their ineffectiveness as a tool for strengthening America’s manufacturing sector.
The study compared the year before tariffs (March 2024 to February 2025) with the latest year of trade data (July 2025 to June 2026) and concluded that manufacturing rose by just 0.4%. “Although imports from Canada fell, the United States turned to imports from other trading partners rather than spurring domestic manufacturing,” the report found.
“The U.S.-Canada trade war has not just resulted in a shifting of the North American economic order,” Nau continued, “but has produced tremors in this year’s midterm elections, becoming an issue in key battleground states like Michigan and Maine.
“The National Taxpayers Union Foundation estimates that the tariffs levied against Canadian imports cost the state an estimated $23 billion, and $5,619 per Michigan household, the largest per-household cost in the nation.”
