Vietnamese VIPs have waited 20 years for this one moment — when a sea of cosmos flowers finally bloomed at Mỹ Đình Stadium…
💛 👑 Last night in Hanoi, Mỹ Đình Stadium welcomed a sea of people. More than 40,000 filled the stadium, while thousands more waited outside with a sense of longing and regret in what BIGBANG fans jokingly call “CAT6” (the area outside the stadium). All of them were there for one reason: to sing and move along to more than 25 songs, most of which are already nearly 10 to 20 years old.
A BIGBANG concert is something rather special, because much of the audience consists of parents and full-fledged working adults who have to rearrange their schedules, juggle family responsibilities, and make arrangements for their children just to… go see their idols.
On ordinary days, they're caught up in the endless whirlwind of deadlines, raising children, and the daily struggle of making a living. Yet, on this one evening, when they finally got to meet their “family who came all the way from Korea,” everyone was dressed in concert merchandise, holding their crown lightsticks, and standing shoulder to shoulder in a packed stadium.
And all it took was the familiar bass of BIGBANG's music reverberating through the stadium for that tough, composed exterior of adulthood to completely disappear. Suddenly, everyone was showing that same carefree, rebellious excitement they once had at 15 or 20 years old.
There's something almost unbelievable about it.
Back in our school days, when we were dirt poor, listening to Haru Haru and Lies on pirated CDs or watching grainy 360p videos on computers at internet cafés, BIGBANG felt like a luxury far beyond our reach.
Seoul or Bangkok might as well have been another planet back then. And the dream of attending a concert by these guys? That was practically science fiction.
And yet, somehow, after everything that both our idols and their fans have been through, here we are, standing in this very place.
We didn't have to travel somewhere far away. Instead, we got to welcome BIGBANG right here in Vietnam.
It was a simple reunion, really.
Just the children we once were, now finally grown up and capable of taking ourselves to meet the youth we had left behind…
