Gold surged past $4,400 an ounce to a record high, driven by expectations of US rate cuts amid easing inflation and a softening labor market, alongside rising geopolitical tensions.

UK inflation fell to 3.2% in November, the lowest in eight months, down from 3.6% in October and below forecasts of 3.5%. Prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages rose slower than expected, leaving the figure under the BoE’s 3.4% projection.
