Started a BRAF Colorectal Cancer Public Library group on Facebook. So many significant trials, research findings, changes to NCCN guidelines, etc. in the last 2 years. Gathering high level research/interviews into 1 place seems wise and useful. #BRAFCRC facebook.com/groups/20849066…

Cancer vaccines are being explored not only to help prevent cancer from returning, but also to prevent it from developing.
At #ESMO26, Dr. Eduardo Vilar-Sanchez will present research on a vaccine designed for people with Lynch syndrome, an inherited condition that raises the risk of several cancers.

NICHE-2 | Four Weeks of Immunotherapy. Remarkable Results.
Part 1: Why dMMR colon cancer?
Part 2: Nivolumab + ipilimumab before surgery.
Part 3: 98% pathological response | 95% MPR | 68% pCR | 100% 3-year DFS.
Part 4: ctDNA clearance, organ preservation and unanswered questions.
Take-home: Short-course neoadjuvant immunotherapy shows exceptional promise, but surgery omission remains unproven.

“Chemo brain” is one of the most common things my patients ask me about. We still have no proven drug to treat it.
In our small phase II trial, breast cancer survivors with cognitive complaints took oxaloacetate for 8 weeks. Every participant who completed the study reported improvement in cognition, along with less fatigue and better physical function.
It’s an early signal, not an answer. A randomized, placebo-controlled trial is the next step.
Led by Dr. Patti Ganz, with thanks to @BCRFcure. Out now in @JCOOA_ASCO.

🚨: The @FDA has granted accelerated approval to the immunotherapy Jemperli (dostarlimab) for adults with stage 2 or 3 rectal cancer whose tumors have specific genetic characteristics known as mismatch repair-deficient (MMRd) or microsatellite instability-high (MSI-H).
The approach, developed at MSK by gastrointestinal medical oncologists Dr. Andrea Cercek (@AndreaCercek) and Dr. Luis Diaz Jr. (@ldiaz1971), uses immunotherapy alone to harness the body’s own immune system to fight cancer.
This allows some patients to skip standard treatment for rectal cancer, which includes surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy, and can have life-altering consequences for bowel and urinary function, as well as fertility.

No recurrences among responders after more than 2 years of median follow-up!
We know immunotherapy works, and when patients respond, those responses can be incredible.
I’ve been using immunotherapy with curative intent in these patients, and I haven’t been disappointed.
The fact that we’re potentially curing solid tumors with systemic therapy alone, without chemotherapy, radiation, or surgery, is magical.
Looking forward to the full data and seeing this approach become more broadly available to patients.
