I first heard ‘Sweet Liberty’ or ‘The Prayer of Sheil’ sung a cappella by Ian Lynch of Lankum, and was fascinated by it.
These words were written 200 years ago by Irish weaver and songwriter John Sheil and its attitude toward global solidarity in the face of oppression still resonates deeply today.
It felt an appropriate song to share on Monday night. Thank you to the wonderful @Meredi__ for arranging this song for strings and thank you again to @macklemore for putting together such an important evening.

Thank you to @macklemore for creating a moment in which the city of Dublin could focus its love, solidarity and spirit of witness for the Palestinian people and their experience. Thank you also to #Beogamusic, @KNEECAPCEOL, @liamcunningham1, #LinaMakhoul, @MarkRuffalo, #alanahadid, @m1deadprez and everyone else who made that evening what it was, I was very proud to be among you all.
