Ethiopia and the Red Sea 🇪🇹
"Ethiopia should access the Red Sea, and we need it." A port means sovereignty, cheaper trade, and a stronger future for more than 120 million Ethiopians. It's not about taking. It's about give and take.
Who backs Ethiopia: Turkey and Qatar, Russia, the UAE and Oman, and Somaliland through the Berbera port deal.
Pressure against it: Egypt and Sudan over the dam, and Somalia over Ethiopian troops.
Somaliland: It broke from Somalia in 1991 and runs itself, but it isn't widely recognized.
Next 5 to 10 years: Ethiopia's push for the sea will keep growing, and fair give-and-take deals can get it there.

Welcome back home, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed! 🇪🇹 @AbiyAhmedAli
At the Russia–Africa Summit in Moscow, you met with President Putin to strengthen the long friendship between Ethiopia and Russia. You talked about working together on nuclear energy, health, and trade, and you pushed to send more Ethiopian products to Russia. Your book Medemer was launched in Russian, and you gave a copy to President Putin yourself. Thank you for representing Ethiopia with pride! 🇪🇹

New milestone for Ethiopia’s defense capabilities. 🇷🇺🤝🇪🇹
Our comprehensive efforts to sustainably ensure our country's peace and security have reached a new milestone today. The state of readiness being built within Ethiopia's defense forces is endowing the nation with the capability to preemptively deter aggression.
In accordance with our prior agreement with the Russian government, we have today taken delivery of the first twelve Su-35 4++ Generation fighter jets. Additionally, Ethiopia will receive four S-400 air defense system batteries.
I would like to express my gratitude to my friend, Russian President Vladimir Putin, for his dedication in ensuring we received these warplanes a year ahead of our agreed schedule. By equipping itself with these fighter jets, Ethiopia has taken the lead among Sub-Saharan African nations.
This historic achievement further strengthens our nation's sovereignty, and it will serve as a massive capability boost that allows us to confidently continue our journey toward ensuring our collective security and regional stability in the future.
