macOS Sonoma 14.1 was just released!
In Photos, we no longer default to “Freeform” when using the crop tool but remember whether “Freeform” or “Original” was last chosen by the user. That setting is then automatically preselected when using the crop tool on unedited photos.
Happy macOS Sonoma launch day!
I love being able to put widgets on the desktop, especially on large screens. The video conferencing features are great too, and if you have pets, Photos can keep track of them 🐶
What features are you most excited about?

What a day! We launched both macOS 13 Ventura as well as iPadOS 16 with many exciting new features including iCloud Shared Photo Library, my favorite one!
In the Photos app on iOS 16, you can merge all *exact* duplicates while keeping perceptual duplicates for manual review.
1. In the "Albums" tab, select "Duplicates"
2. Tap on "Select" at the top, then "Select All"
3. Tap on "Merge"
4. Select "Merge Exact Copies Only.."
iOS 16.0 is out and there are many new fun & useful features!
For example, the Photos app allows you to lock the Hidden and Recently Deleted albums. And to clean up your library, Duplicate detection will allow you to merge very similar photos and remove exact copies.
Photos now has extensive Undo/Redo support, both for common actions like delete or favorite – as well as individual steps while editing photos.
