1/4 I keep seeing people complain that the American soldiers in #GodzillaMinusZero are caricatures. I personally took that as a choice and loved it. After decades of Hollywood doing the same thing to Japanese people, it felt a little like payback.

Godzilla in New York?!
GODZILLA MINUS ZERO: Thanks to the naivety of the U.S. pushing nuclear tests, Godzilla returns in a larger, much more menacing form and finally reaches... New York. We got to see BTS that teased a lot of the Japanese set pieces as well, with Yamazaki using IMAX cameras #CinemaCon

I have no desire to make a movie with AI, but there’s a few movie scenes I’d like to fix
The final air battle in TopGun (1986) but with an improved sound design.
One thing I personally hate is that movies never include the real alert tones from the respective aircraft. Now I understand why that is but I personally like the immersion of the real alert tones.
So enjoy the final battle in TopGun with the proper F-14 RWR alerts, sidewinder growl, and improved cannon sounds from the MiG -29.

Oh. My. FORCE!
This is remarkable. Truly. It’s RARE to see Adam Driver this excited about anything and he’s sincere👀

Here are some other allusions or mentions of the atomic bombings in Godzilla films.
Godzilla was created as a coping mechanism for the atrocities of the bombs. And this is probably the first blockbuster that doesn’t hide it in nuance. They literally speak on Hiroshima IN THE DIALOGUE.
But they also have an entire storyline as to how the Japanese used humans as weapons and the affects on the mentality of young pilots during this time. It also shows the extent people will go to for revenge and, ultimately, victory and it does not shy away from showing how nasty humans can be when drowned in hate.
I think people are just shocked as to how un-American this movie is, which is more telling about the people watching it more than anything.

Lucas made a gorgeous 7 hour long movie for children about how entitlement and fear of loss turns good people into fascists, and did it while spearheading nearly every technical sea change in modern filmmaking of the past 30 years.
