I call this ridged fossil impression a bivalve of genus Ambonichia, but I struggle to find evidence that this is correct. I find bigger ones at westernmost boundary of Georgian Bay formation near the lake shore. Smaller at Etobicoke and Mimico.

🐚 Buried on an ancient seafloor, this ammonite acquired a coating of pyrite (FeS₂) under oxygen-poor conditions. This 'fool's gold' gives fossils their metallic lustre. Nature’s own gilding, millions of years in the making! ✨⚒️ #FossilFriday #geology #paleontology #化石

Incredible to see my feature on stuttering research on the front page of this week's @nytimes' Science section! As a person who #stutters, reporting on this long misunderstood condition was incredibly rewarding. Today also happens to be International Stuttering Awareness Day!
