This should be mandatory reading for every high school player.
NLCS MVP Jake Bauers shares how letting go of results helped him find a different level of freedom as a competitor.
"I think what changed for me this year was I stopped caring about results. I started caring about competing. I started caring about being in the moment and getting out of my own way."
Sometimes, the biggest obstacle to performing at your best isn't a lack of preparation or ability.
It's the pressure you place on yourself to produce a particular outcome.
You become so concerned with what you want to happen that you lose touch with what the moment actually requires.
Any performer can unlock a new level when they learn how to be fully invested in the competition without becoming imprisoned by the outcome.

Colorado State at Texas State (-14.5, O/U 70)
No play for me, but I was tempted to play CSU, I can't lay this big a number with the staff at Texas State. But can CSU's Defense get any stops? I make the total 68.
Keep an eye on Texas State Edge Tymere Jackson. 211 snaps, 18 pressures, 3 sacks. He's grading an A on my Depth & Value chart, No. 17 of 443 edge rushers.
Colorado State LG Braden Hales played 18 snaps all of last season, and he was a 23 on my preseason value scale. He's the starter now, 331 snaps in, no sacks allowed, grading an A- on my Depth & Value chart. Biggest surprise on that roster for me.
I’ve watched every version and every angle of the clip with Justin Verlander and his daughter. One of the most beautiful and heartwarming things I’ve seen in sports.

MacKenzie Gore calls his own shot and challenges the pitch leading to a strikeout.
Gutsy, gritty effort. 5 IP and seems like he's fighting it...not sure he'd be on the mound if this was mid-May. Allowed just 1 ER...probably should have been 0 w/ better D behind him.

You’d have to pay me $999.99 a month to read this.
I started a Substack. Football Done Right is where my NFL writing lives now: the Tuesday review, the Friday Lombardi Look Ahead, QB and power ratings, and deep dives like this one on why Dan Campbell has never fixed the Lions defense. Free and paid tiers.

The irony of this being called “Football Done Right”

Sources: @UNCWBaseball has hired Turner Brown as its Director of Player Development and Assistant Coach, I'm told. Brown previously spent the last two seasons at Jacksonville, and replaces Taber Mongero, who left the program at the end of August. #UNCW

Best thing I’ve followed all summer. 🇺🇸
So long, America🫡🇺🇸
49 days ago we landed in the USA to follow our country at the World Cup. We had no idea it would turn into the trip of a lifetime.
Thank you to everyone who followed along, and to all the people we met who made this journey even more special. We honestly don’t have the words to express how grateful we are for everything you did for us.
This trip exceeded every expectation we had. We came here with an open mind, wanting to experience as much of the country as possible. I still remember telling my friends on the flight to Atlanta that I hoped we’d get to meet a few locals on this trip. Now we’re flying home with friends all across the USA.
Before we came, we heard so many stereotypes and warnings about America. People told us about safety concerns, that they might check our social media at the border, and all kinds of other things. None of it matched our experience. This was probably the most welcoming country we’ve ever visited.
So if you have the chance to travel, do it. The world isn’t nearly as bad as the media often makes it seem. 99% of people are awesome!
I heard this quote somewhere during the World Cup, and I think it sums up our experience perfectly:
“If you want to hate the world, watch the news. If you want to love it, travel it.”
Thank you, America ❤️🇺🇸
