Another week, & another tree beloved by its local community at risk of felling at the behest of an insurance company.
This time, it’s the King George Oak, in Wivenhoe. This magnificent tree is likely at least 150 years old & the focal point of the community. The local council is due to chop the tree down this week, as the insurance company @avivaplc has implicated it in the subsidence of a neighbouring property. However, the council & Aviva refused to release the expert report into the matter, & alternative ways of dealing with the subsidence whilst retaining the tree have not apparently been considered.
There is a strong local campaign @Oldoakwivenhoe, with many tree protectors protesting at the tree & doing whatever they can to stop it being felled. Do sign their petition below and follow the campaign to save their tree.

Perfect Sunday papers with @ObsMagazine articles on older women at the Venice Film Festival, women’s football, and a cheeky wee mention of #WOFFF 🎬
Women's football isn't a smaller version of the men's game.
Great article by @msmirandasawyer about the ever-inspiring @LewesFCWomen.
And the "woman in charge of a film festival for women over 50"? C'est moi and c'est @WO50FF! 😊⚽️🧡

Hang a banner from a motorway gantry and you are going to jail.
Dump billions of litres of sewage into the environment for millions of hours and nothing. And no matter what anybody says that is not going to change.

Angela Rayner & I both grew up in poverty on council estates. We both left school without any qualifications. We both worked hard against almost insurmountable odds to get where we are today & we both now hold a truth twisting, law breaking government to account.
No wonder they hate social mobility so much. I’ll proudly stand shoulder to shoulder with Angela any day of the week
