This year i had the fantastic opportunity to work on my own Substance Source Signature Collection, in collaboration with the #Adobe #Substance3D team. It was a great honour and i enjoyed working on this large project where i had plenty of creative freedom. behance.net/gallery/23698171…
As a solo dev I get the allure of AI and how disclosure could be annoying. But it is an important instrument to keep us honest, level the playing field for devs who don't use AI that they deem unethical and give buyers who feel the same the opportnity to make informed decissions.

What do you guys think about a world space blur in painter? Would anyone find that useful? I was thinking of sharing my personal filters collection. #substancepainter
Modding used to be about honing ones own skill, getting your feet wet in game dev. Slapping AI filters on a game is not that. It's just adding insult to injury to devs who already deal with a lot of uncertainty regarding their jobs and take the brunt for unhinged corpo greed.
This DLSS5 stuff makes me wonder if gamers even like games. Would cinephiles "improve" classic cinema by slapping slop filters on? Would art connoisseurs buy paintings only to paint them over? Would music lovers run their favourite bands through autotune before listening?

Impressionism flourished right after humans invented photography, which liberated authenticity from painting. Similarly, perfect CGI becomes aesthetically cheap very quickly with AI, and “hand-made” Niu Lai is the harbinger of this shift. Viewers not only enjoy the fun of participating in the counter-revolution but also realize they love contemplating about the human thinking behind the five years of production and creation.

Wolfenstein 3d for the stock Commodore 64 released! Full shareware episode included. Armed with only a combat knife, a stolen pistol, and raw grit, you must fight through 8 levels of hell and defeat Hans Grosse to escape. kweepa.itch.io/wolf64

Artists can use AI like artists can order pizza or use the toilet. Artists are people that can do people things. But never conflate AI output with creating art or being part of the work in their capacity as an artist. Anyone who mixes these things up is intellectually dishonest.
Coca Cola is sleeping in the bed they made for themselves. Their execs probably outsourced their rebranding to an "AI first" ad agency. Everyone with a brain cell left can see how it's plagiarizing tobacco ads. But not the inept people who signed this off.
Someone explain this to me like i'm 5. If consoles become propietary hardware boxes to compete with PC digital wouldn't it be then important to have a lot of good exclusive games on that platform? Given all the studio closures and layoffs where are games supposed to come from?
Very sad news. Last year my nephew was in a similarly bad accident as Alex was in 2001. His story gave our family hope and strength. In 2003 i was eye witness when Alex finished his 13 laps on the EuroSpeedway. His willpower and determination left a lasting impression on me.
I wonder is this some large scale corpo corruption where marketing budget stays the same but someone pockets the difference? Because otherwise it literally makes no sense whatsoever that companies would not want to present themselves and their brands in the best light possible.

I posted this video on tiktok a few hours ago and it got exactly 1 view and 1 like (a family member). Figured I might as well drop it here as well in an attempt to double that external validation ;D

Let me get this straight, the games industry became a complete sh*t show because people with money was chasing the next Fortnite and now even Fortnite number isn't big enough anymore?
As a internet user, gamer and consumer i have never been so unimpressed and unenthusiastic about new technology. Everything sucks, everything gets enshittificated and the fun sucked out of. Reading, hearing, watching anything AI generated makes me physically sick.

I quit. Party's over.
I am not a luddite, quite the opposite, I love when there's new tech out there that creates new and easy ways to create.
It pains me to see this, its something I was once excited for but Nvidia is now treading on ground that is at odds with the artistry and human expression that makes creating special with DLSS5.
I'm a hard working artist that manually put in a lot of time and care into recreating and remastering and I'll share some of my work.
I wanted to make a proper post that explains why I want to stop so here's a thread why:
DLSS5 has taken a step in a direction that minimizes the human element and I don't want any part of. I prefer to stop and focus on original creations rather than have DLSS associated with my work and slandering the real time and effort that goes into it.
Something once reputable has become an umbrella term for poor optimization, laziness and now generative AI and its crossed a fine line I am choosing not to tread on.
Tech like this wasn't always bad, and isn't without its generative component. In fact, it was incredibly helpful and designed to be used as a tool. I endorsed it and integrated it into my own workflow, the results have the potential to be amazing.
It doesn't attempt to create for me, it cannot and does not finish the job on its on. It can only work with what is there.
I control the artistic decisions, I recreate the textures, geometry, lighting, and add details as needed.
This is the difference from how it and similar tech worked traditionally vs DLSS5 with its generative component.
GenAI/LLM's are very bad for the future. They are built on a poor foundation for control and precision and are designed to complete the entire job rather than being tools you can configure precisely in professional editing software and its pushing us in a direction that hurts us all. The human component is important to preserve, that will always be the heart and soul of anything creative.
I won't be stopping the things I work on completely, I'm going to finish up the final few projects I started but I'll be shifting entirely to creating original works.
Announcing NVIDIA DLSS 5, an AI-powered breakthrough in visual fidelity for games, coming this fall.
DLSS 5 infuses pixels with photorealistic lighting and materials, bridging the gap between rendering and reality.
