My game got to Imgur Most Viral page I thought its almost impossible nowadays, but yesterday my game's short video made it to Imgur Most Viral: imgur.com/gallery/ever-playe…. It's like my 20th attempt to get there and finaly I got some views (around 200k in 2 days). Community is still quite toxic to any marketing attempts (though Imgur rules allow it), so I thought any posts that get upvoted out of indietags to wider community would get immediately destroyed. Luckily, it didnt happen this time. I've got some downvotes and #ad comments, but the absolute majority was quite positive and I landed with 400+ upvotes. I love the results, as we all know how incredibly tough it is to get any exposure for indie game, especially if you work solo. Still not millions of views, but let's move step by step. Advices for other #indiedev: * Be active on Imgur besides promoting yourself: most commenters would immediately check your profile for your rating, posts, favorites and comments. Posting only about your game would end up in pure downvotes, which is quite difficult to recover from. * Do not leave straightforward links to your game (I know most marketers advice you to do it, but Imgur audience just won't let you). * Your content should be fun and enjoyable to watch outside the context of your game Thanks everyone for upvoting, this is quite a motivation to go further! #indiegame #gamedev #indiegames #IndieGameGoGo #gaming #IndieGameDev #avertindie #programmer #gamedevelopment #indiedevhour #indie #gamedesign #voxel #ue5 #unrealengine #cozy #imgur
