Putin is dismantling the pension fund. Funds are being shifted into a "long-term savings system."
The Ministry of Finance has drafted a bill to forcibly transfer Russians' pension savings into a "long-term savings program." Starting April 1, 2027, the funds of 71 million citizens—totaling 6.6 trillion rubles—will be transferred automatically.
People will not even be asked whether they consent to this. To add insult to injury, the authorities have chosen April 1—April Fools' Day—as the date to seize these pension funds.
The transfer will encompass both the savings of clients in non-state pension funds and the assets of so-called "silent" participants—those who never submitted an application to change their fund manager. These assets will be managed by a special, state-controlled fund.
In short, all pension savings will end up in the hands of Putin and the State Duma.
The long-term savings program was launched at Putin’s initiative in 2024, but it failed to gain traction. Now, the authorities have decided to forcibly funnel trillions of rubles in pension savings into it.
Meanwhile, Igor Shuvalov, head of the state development corporation VEB.RF, stated that the state needs these pension funds "for investments in technological projects."
At the same time, the federal budget continues to sink deeper into deficit: in the first nine months of 2026, the deficit reached 5.2 trillion rubles, with a year-end total projected at 7.3 trillion.
The Kremlin is scrambling for funds to cover military expenditures—and has now set its sights on the pension savings of 71 million people.

Shoigu claims we are close to victory in the "Special Military Operation"
Security Council Secretary Sergei Shoigu has announced that Russia is nearing victory in the war, attributing an "intensification of Western subversive activity" within the country to this fact.
Shoigu also accused Western nations of supporting the opposition abroad, exerting influence over Russian media, and attempting to draw emigrants and those who have relocated abroad into the struggle against the Russian state.
However, he provided no concrete evidence for this supposed impending victory. Instead, he once again spoke of external enemies, conspiracies, and the threat of the country’s collapse.
When he talks about "subversive activity," is he referring to Putin’s own actions? To the logging of forests, tax hikes, or the provision of free university spots for Africans while our own children have to pay for their education?
Is he talking about the fact that the entire country has effectively been sold off to China—is that the "subversive activity" he means?

14 million rubles stolen from the family of a fallen soldier from Bashkortostan
The parents of a fallen serviceman from Bashkortostan have fallen victim to fraudsters. The criminals convinced them to transfer their money into a "secure account," after which a courier arrived, collected the funds—totaling 14 million rubles—and made off with the money.
According to investigators, the act was carried out by a group of scammers. The courier, who had traveled from the Kemerovo Region, was acting under the direction of his handlers. A few days later, he deceived another individual, stealing an additional 8 million rubles.
The courier is now facing trial, while the masterminds behind the criminal scheme remain at large.
The state sends people to war and provides their families with multi-million-ruble compensation payments, yet it fails to ensure the safety of those who receive these funds. As a result, the parents of a fallen son become easy prey for fraudsters.

Rostelecom Builds Underground Data Centers to Protect Against Drones
Rostelecom, the largest internet service provider in Russia, is developing projects for underground data centers designed to safeguard equipment and information from "external threats."
The company is already preparing a modular data center for PhosAgro and is in talks with Nornickel regarding the construction of a similar facility.
The reason for this urgency is clear: in October, drones attacked data centers belonging to Yandex, VK, Sber, and the Federal Tax Service. These strikes caused large-scale disruptions to government services, online banking, taxi services, and delivery platforms.
The Ministry of Digital Development has already recommended that strategically important data centers be located underground—within rock formations or bunkers. Constructing such hardened facilities, however, will cost 30–40% more than building standard ones.
Companies are now forced to spend billions more to shield their digital infrastructure from drone strikes. The consequences of the war unleashed by the Kremlin are increasingly affecting even those sectors that once seemed far removed from the hostilities.

Will the war become total? Raids in Omsk. The HIV epidemic in Russia.
A catastrophic collapse in wages and pensions, a hidden HIV epidemic, the handover of gold mining in Yakutia to semi-legal Chinese firms, and the gutting of social services in the regions.
While Moscow paints a picture of success and spends billions on window dressing, the provinces—along with Siberia and the Far East—are left to face massive budget shortfalls, the closure of schools and hospitals, and shortages of basic goods on their own.
In this episode, we recap the week’s key developments: where regional funds are actually going, why 28% of the country’s entire air defense network is dedicated to protecting Putin’s dacha in Valdai, how State Duma deputies sit on billions in their accounts while the people struggle to survive, and what the Kremlin’s domestic policy is morphing into.

November 2 — Day of Remembrance for the Victims of the Deportation of the Karachay People
On November 2, 1943, one of the most harrowing tragedies in the history of the Karachay people began. By order of Stalin, thousands of families were forcibly expelled from their ancestral homeland to Central Asia and Kazakhstan.
People were driven from their homes without any time to gather their belongings. The elderly, women, and children were loaded into freight wagons and sent off into the unknown.
The journey claimed countless lives. In exile, the Karachay people faced hunger, disease, bitter cold, and extreme hardship. Entire families never made it back home.
A whole nation was stripped of its homeland, its property, and its way of life; for many years, the very right to return remained prohibited.
An entire people paid with the lives of thousands of innocent individuals for a crime they did not commit.
We remember those who perished along the way and in exile. This tragedy must not be forgotten, and the crimes of the Moscow regime must never be allowed to happen again.

In Novosibirsk, 300 private homes are being demolished, and residents are being forcibly evicted.
In the Oktyabrsky District of Novosibirsk, authorities have decided to demolish approximately 300 private homes across a 21-hectare area to make way for the construction of high-rise apartment buildings.
Some of these homes were built recently; they are modern and perfectly habitable. Nevertheless, residents are being compelled to vacate their properties.
People are shocked by the "compensation" offered—the funds provided would barely cover the purchase of a one-room apartment on the city's outskirts.
The land for development was acquired by the company "Strana Development," which won the rights in an auction with a bid of 297.8 million rubles.
Around 100 residents have already sought assistance from a State Duma deputy. The deputy submitted an inquiry to the Prosecutor's Office, but the agency declined to defend the residents' interests.
Instead, following an investigation, the Prosecutor's Office instructed the city administration to *accelerate* the eviction of people from their own homes.

Over a thousand gold bars seized from Krasnodar judge
Bailiffs have transferred more than a thousand gold bars and coins—seized from the former presiding judge of the Krasnodar Regional Court, Alexander Chernov, and his family members—to Gokhran (the State Fund for Precious Metals and Gems). This was announced by Dmitry Aristov, head of the Federal Bailiff Service (FSSP).
Chernov led the regional court for 25 years, from 1994 to 2019. During that period and following his retirement, he amassed assets valued at approximately 13 billion rubles.
In August 2025, following a lawsuit filed by the Prosecutor General’s Office, 87 properties, two companies, 22 million rubles in cash, and 36 kilograms of gold were confiscated from him.
Among the defendants in the case were Chernov’s daughter—a judge at the Arbitration Court of the Krasnodar Territory—and his ex-wife, who heads the region’s Notary Chamber.
The former judge himself currently resides in Cyprus and has no plans to return.

India Rejects Kremlin’s Push for Visa-Free Travel
Negotiations between Russia and India regarding visa-free travel—which had been ongoing for several years—have reached an impasse. Efforts to develop an agreement for visa-free entry for tourist groups have been suspended.
This was announced by Alexey Klimov, head of the Consular Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
Vladimir Putin had been pushing for the abolition of visas since 2019. Following the outbreak of the war and the imposition of Western visa restrictions, Moscow had particularly hoped for simplified travel to India.
In December 2025, Narendra Modi had even promised to begin work on a visa-free regime, but no agreement could be reached.
Consequently, Russian tourists will still be required to obtain visas. While a free electronic visa is available, it is limited to stays of up to 30 days.
The Kremlin spent years attempting to secure a visa-free regime, but despite numerous rounds of negotiations, India ultimately declined to enter into such an agreement with Moscow.

30 banks have disappeared in Russia since the beginning of the year.
At the start of 2026, there were 306 banks in the country; by October 26, only 276 remained.
Over the course of ten months, the banking sector has shrunk by 30 institutions.
Eight banks ceased operations entirely: two had their licenses revoked by the Central Bank, while the others were merged into other financial organizations.
The remaining banks were closed as part of what Putin favors calling "optimization."
We have already seen this happen with hospitals and schools—institutions are consolidated, shut down, or absorbed into larger entities.
Now, this same trend is affecting the banking sector.

The largest cryptocurrency theft in history! North Korean hackers steal over $6 billion, according to the FBI.
The U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has officially attributed the largest cryptocurrency theft in history to a North Korean hacking group known as "TraderTraitor."
On October 29, the attackers targeted Binance—the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange—and siphoned off assets totaling more than $6 billion.
According to the FBI, the hackers are primarily converting the stolen funds into Ethereum. U.S. intelligence and law enforcement agencies are tracking the movement of the cryptocurrency; the FBI has already released the addresses of wallets linked to the attack and has urged that any transactions involving them be blocked.
Binance stated that the breach originated from the compromise of an employee’s laptop, which was infected with malicious software.
The exchange temporarily suspended withdrawals but pledged to cover the losses using its own reserves. By October 31, the company reported that 90% of the stolen assets had been recovered.
TraderTraitor had previously been accused of stealing approximately $1.5 billion from the exchange Bybit in February of last year—an incident for which the FBI also pointed to North Korean involvement.
North Korean hackers are behind the two largest cryptocurrency heists to date. The scale of these operations now reaches into the billions of dollars, with the perpetrators actively attempting to move the stolen funds beyond the reach of U.S. authorities.

In 10 years, there may be no toll-free roads left in Russia
Mikhail Blinkin, a professor at the Higher School of Economics, has stated that within the next 5–10 years, the distinction between toll and toll-free roads could become a thing of the past. According to his forecast, motorists may soon have to pay for every kilometer they drive.
The professor considers the current system of road funding—based on fuel excise taxes—to be obsolete. Electric vehicles do not use gasoline, and modern, more efficient cars consume less fuel.
Consequently, instead of the traditional collection methods, authorities might shift to a system based on the actual distance traveled.
The technical infrastructure for this already exists: vehicle mileage is currently tracked on most federal highways, as well as on the streets of Moscow and Kazan.
Motorists are already required to pay for gasoline and vehicle maintenance; now, they may also be billed for every kilometer they travel.

Representatives of Turkic peoples within the of Free Nations League have spoken out against Russia’s participation in the Organization of Turkic States (OTS).
Representatives of the Bashkir, Tatar, and Sakha movements—all part of the Free Nations League—have urged the member states of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) not to grant Russia observer status or include it in an "OTS+" framework, as long as the Turkic peoples within Russia remain deprived of an independent voice. The statement, issued on October 31, was also supported by representatives of the Chuvash, Tuvan, and Khakas movements.
This response was prompted by an initiative from the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. During the 13th OTS summit in Ankara on October 30, Tokayev proposed inviting Russia to join an "OTS+" format or granting it observer status, citing, among other reasons, the presence of Turkic peoples living within Russia.
"The right of Russia’s Turkic peoples to have an independent voice cannot be replaced by Moscow’s right to speak on their behalf," the authors of the appeal emphasize.
They point out that the leaders of Russia’s Turkic republics lack political autonomy, and that Moscow’s participation in the OTS would serve as a tool for the Kremlin to exert influence over independent Turkic states.
The authors also recall that in December 2015, the Russian Ministry of Culture demanded that Altai, Bashkortostan, Sakha, Tatarstan, Tuva, and Khakassia cease all contact with the international organization TURKSOY—a move that underscores the restrictions placed on the Turkic peoples' independent ties with the broader Turkic world.
The appeal further highlights the persecution of national activists, the banning of organizations such as the All-Tatar Public Center and "Bashkort," the imprisonment of individuals in connection with the Baymak case, and the diminishing opportunities for education in native languages. The statement specifically mentions the sentencing of Altai activist Aruna Arna, who was sentenced in June 2026 to five years in a penal colony on charges of "justifying terrorism" for posting two songs on a Telegram channel.
Another topic addressed is the participation of representatives of Turkic peoples in the war against Ukraine. The authors point to military and administrative coercion, and cite reports of deception and pressure used during the recruitment of citizens from Turkic states.
Representatives of these movements have also put forward six demands to the Russian authorities:
- to cease restricting the international cultural and political ties of Turkic peoples;
- to end the persecution of ethnic activists, human rights defenders, and civic organizations;
- to restore full-fledged education in Turkic languages;
- to stop forced participation in the war and deceptive recruitment practices;
- to grant these peoples the genuine right to manage the natural resources of their own republics;
- to guarantee the right to national development, self-governance, and the independent determination of their own future.
Unless these demands are met, any talk of Russia drawing closer to the Organization of Turkic States appears not as a pursuit of Turkic unity, but rather as an attempt by the Kremlin to expand its political influence over independent states and to exploit historical and cultural ties in the service of Russian foreign policy.
The statement was signed by Ruslan Gabbasov , representing the Bashkir movement; Ruslan Aysin , Sergey Ismagilov, and Aida Abdrakhmanova, representing Tatar organizations; and Raisa Zubareva, from the Movement for the Independence of Sakha. It was also supported by Rodion Yevdokimov (Ilmar Yankas), Eres Kara-Sal, and Amina Akhpasheva—representatives of the Chuvash, Tuvan, and Khakas movements, respectively.
