I absolute love @focusmate!! It's so weird how sharing a video conference call with a total stranger (and fellow procrastinator) can yield such excellent progress on top priority todos. Thank you so much for creating this tool!!

I recently joined @focusmate and it's awesome. It's a different thing when I'm tired. But when I need to work and I'm not feeling it, I just book a session, get matched with a focus-buddy and grind for 75 minutes. Works like magic ✨😀

There’s an app for you to do this with strangers. Called FocusMate
I think I like couples that just get on FaceTime while at work, mute the call and just have and watch each other work simultaneously. If there’s free time, smile at the camera, say few words, go back on mute, and keep working, till one person has to go. Love it. 🥹❤️

My ADHD is a gift & a curse. It allows me to be inventive & passionate. But it also makes it difficult (at times) to reign in the creative chaos going on upstairs. If there’s one tool that’s helped me stay on top of my sh*t, it’s Focusmate. Think virtual co-working with a stranger when doing deep work. It sounds insane, but it works like voodoo magic.

I'm not associated with them at all (other than being a user), but @focusmate has been a game changer for me. Having someone watch you work feels weird initially but there is something to the feeling accountability that gets me in the zone

P.S. It isn't mandatory to use @focusmate for tough tasks. It can also be used for easy tasks like doing dishes or cleaning the house.

When it comes to virtual co-working spaces, Focusmate is my GOAT. Every time I need a body double to help me get something done, I use it. It’s my favorite “productivity” tool.

Close to wrapping my December month with @focusmate. Meeting founders, stand-up comedians, singers, artists, students, professors, pet-parents, etc to co-working with them has been an amazing journey. Looking forward to more productive hours in 2024. 💜

After procrastinating for OVER 6 years… I’ve decreased my procrastination by over 80%. All by using a virtual coworking site called Focusmate. Here’s how I did it: After trying to work longer hours for over 6+ years. I always ended up on YouTube listening to either… @gregisenberg or @ShaanVP from My First Million. Even though I find that a good use of my time… I needed to get sh*t done. So after trying techniques like: • Turning off my phone • Website blocker • Pomodoro I had no luck, until… @businessbarista made a post about using FocusMate last week. Talking about how, “This idea that by having a friend or partner who works simultaneously, either IRL or virtually, productivity goes up.” So I tried it… It’s simple to use: 1. I pick a 25-75 min time block (my fav is 50mins) 2. I get paired up with another user 3. I show up to the video call (like Zoom) 4. We both tell each other our goals for the time, and simply work. 5. Cameras stay on, keeping each other accountable. 6. At the end of our time we both tell each other what we got done. and it was like my holy sh*t moment. -------- I don’t know the exact science behind it… but for me, it keeps me accountable that someone else is there working with me. So I don’t just end up: • Back on my phone • Scrolling reels • or taking a nap So if you struggle with getting work done, go give it a try! P.S. This is not a paid ad. @businessbarista made me have this holy sh*t moment.

Whoever mentioned @focusmate, thank you! Tried it today. It's like a real life person as a pomodoro. You make an appointment to knock out some todo, and an accountability partner joins you and at the end you compare notes. This will make me much more productive!

I’ve been an amazing procrastinator for 10+ years. And I’ve tried just about everything to be less distractible & more focused. Website disabler. Dumb phone. Todo list. Wife given passcode. Timeblocking. Pomodoro. None of it worked. But in the last week I found my crystal key. I shit you not my procrastination is down >90%. I started doing virtual coworking through a site called @focusmate. 1) I pick a 30-75 min block for deep work 2) Focusmate pairs me with a buddy 3) The block starts, we both show up on video, state our goals, and get to work. Cameras stay on, mics muted. 4) While working we can type in the chat as we complete tasks 5) At the end of the block we share how it went and what we accomplished To some, this may sound crazy. But it works…mainly because of this concept called body-doubling… This idea that by having a friend or partner who works simultaneously, either IRL or virtually, productivity goes up. Lots of theories for why it works (dopamine, mirror neurons, Hawthorne effect, etc), but all I can say is it just does. Plus, meeting people from all over the world working on interesting things has been an cool added benefit. P.S. I’m not paid by/affiliated with the company. I just want more people to have a holy shit moment like I did.

If you need to wake up immediately and get to work, do this: Set your alarm on the other side of the room. Put a glass of water beside of it. Schedule a session on @focusmate within 10 minutes of waking up. •Wake up •Slam the water •Flood yourself with light That's it.
