My 2024 move to Abuja is coming to an end, and for my latest Culture Custodian piece, I documented the growth of the Nigerian EDM/House scene and how MOTION is leading the movement in the Federal Capital Territory of Nigeria 🪩

i didn’t want to address this publicly, but at this point i have to.
i don’t know this person. before she showed up in my ig comments accusing me of stealing her idea, i had never heard of her, her page, or her idea.
i work on fun projects every now and then, and this was one of those. the idea came to me on tuesday night into wednesday morning, and i executed and posted it immediately, like i always do.
she says she dmed me and i didn’t respond. For context, i posted the designs before she ever sent that message. her dm also went to my message requests, so i didn’t see it until yesterday. as soon as i saw it, i replied to clear things up. i still haven’t gotten a response.
instead of waiting for clarification, she went straight to writing threads that make it look like i stole from her. that isn’t true, and it’s not fair to put my name out there like that.
i’m happy to share my working files and timestamps with anyone who wants to see them. ideas can overlap. nobody has a monopoly on them, but overlap isn’t theft.
also, having mutuals doesn’t mean i’ve seen everything they repost. i don’t watch every story from everyone i follow, and nobody does. i’d never come across your page or your work before your accusation. a repost on someone else’s story isn’t proof that i saw it, much less that i copied it.
i wouldn’t normally respond to something like this, but it’s getting a lot of attention, so i needed to set the record straight. that’s all from me.
Thank you very much for that observation.
The Nigerian government, and Nigerians generally, need to start taking aesthetics a lot more seriously.
Look at the backdrop of the National Theatre. That beautiful lake, the bridge and the Blue Line running across it. It is such a stunning composition. It should be a defining visual of Lagos, an iconic postcard that people deliberately visit to photograph, much like the Eiffel Tower in Paris.
But you get there and the bushes around the lake are overgrown and there is litter everywhere.
Aesthetic is not frivolity. So many countries/cities have used aesthetic to create and attract massive economic opportunities.
Obasanjo will not believe what the Nigerian tech yutes turned a National Landmark’s rooftop to 🤣 #Moonshot2026

on the conversation about tech events not giving much value: when you go to a river, the amount of water you get depends entirely on whether you carry a basket, a cup, or a bucket. don't expect the world to spoon-feed you. it won't.

You gotta know when an era of your life has expired. A lot of stress and mood disorders are caused by people clinging onto periods that are over. You can save yourself from a lot of unnecessary pain by promptly restructuring your life at the close of each cycle.

Y'all don't get it. Without a record label, Olivia Rodrigo doesn't have a song in her catalog that grosses $40M.
