Sir Patrick Stewart RIP
I have read a lot of tributes for the Late Sir Patrick Stewart, and rightly so. They portray a great man who was cherished by generations.
I have read many heartfelt condolences and remembrances from those who knew him the best. But I have struggled to reconcile why they have brought little comfort to me personally?
This I feel is because they don’t convey what Sir Patrick Stewart meant to me and so many others.
Sir Patrick Stewart, on screen, as in life, represented the best of what men have to offer. He is our father, our grandfather, our mentor, our big brother, our captain, the voice of considered reason, the man who will stand up for what is right and decent, regardless of the consequences.
The representation of that which is good and noble, the “firm but fair”, and the man who will stand by your side when all others have wandered away.
I never knew the man, never met him, but I (?we all) held a feeling of a deep connection.
Most people will judge you harshly, but others are an embracing and guiding hand that will turn you from the mundanity and the attrition that is life. That exceptional person will motivate you to reach for the stars. This is what Sir Patrick Stewart meant to me.
Some will say that he was just an actor, playing a role, mouthing other people’s words. I however, see a man who utilised the tools he had available to help shape the world to be a better place. Ensuring people would know the importance of doing the right thing, and the acceptance that nobody is perfect but that is no damn excuse for not trying your best.
"My father is gone wild into his grave, for in his tomb lies my affections; and with his spirit sadly I survive..."
— Henry IV, Part 2 (Act 5, Scene 2)
Sleep well you exceptional man.

Patrick Stewart once found himself joking with Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr about being three knights at the same table. No grand speech, no performance. Just a moment of shared laughter.
A long career leaves behind more than great roles. It leaves moments people remember.

From some dude named "Luke" on Fakebook ( I laughed out loud on this one):
"Fuck my life , Before anyone starts, no, she’s not been neglected, abandoned or rescued from a shipwreck in the North Atlantic. The daft little bastard has been out in the garden, in the rain. She’s got an entire house to sit in. Warm beds, soft blankets, central heating, food on demand and two fully grown idiots who wait on her like she’s the fucking Queen of England. But no. Apparently today was the perfect day to go outside and audition for the role of a drowned Victorian orphan. And rather than dry herself off somewhere sensible, she’s dragged her soaking wet carcass upstairs and collapsed on the bedding like she’s just walked 400 miles through enemy territory to deliver an urgent message from the front. Look at her!! She looks like somebody’s tried to clean a chimney with a fucking toilet brush.
And the expression on her face!!! Like the humans are the bastards responsible for the weather!!
I’m half expecting her to cough up a tiny bit of seawater and whisper, “Tell my story.” £50 says she’ll be demanding Dreamies within the hour. Has anybody else got a cat with absolutely no survival instincts, or have we somehow adopted the world’s first waterproofing failure with whiskers?"
Just had to share. I laughed so hard!

Proud to be a PlaySchool Baby. This marvellous lady, along with Brian Cant, Toni Arthur, Chloe Ashcroft & the legendary Derek Griffiths, were basically my TV parents.
Thank you, @FloellaBenjamin ❤️
Today it’s 50 years since I first presented Playschool wearing my blue beads and silver heart. I adore bringing joy into the lives of my #Playschool Babies during the 12 years I was on the programme. @CBeebiesHQ ❤️

Wish my dear old mum was still with us to see this, she would have loved it! She did see the bus in the hole in the road during the war.

🚨 BREAKING: Colorado DNA analyst Yvonne “Missy” Woods sentenced to 10 years after deleting male DNA in 32 rape cases — then reporting none was found.
She spent 29 years as CBI’s star expert. Investigators now say 1,045 of her cases are tainted. Over 400 were sexual assaults. One murder conviction already tossed.
An intern caught her. Concerns were raised more than a decade earlier. She kept testing rape kits anyway.
In court, supporters packed the room. Victims shouted “LIAR! LIAR! LIAR!” as she was cuffed and led out.
Colorado is now retesting more than 1,000 cases.
Prosecutors already cut plea deals in three murder cases rather than risk her work in front of a jury.
