Been critical of Burnham, but, as Tim notes, this is excellent Politician on a Train work.
Not a bad entry in the “Politicians on a Train” series from @thetimes

PM Andy Burnham will host a rough sleeping summit today with experts from the homelessness sector.
Will they get “everyone in” from the streets by Christmas? Frontline workers tell me they’re really pleased with the sentiment and energy Burnham has put behind it but think it unlikely.
Torrential rain over the weekend is a reminder of how bleak being exposed to the elements on the street can be. But do we have the housing for thousands of people?

These are fake statements and what is claimed is untrue.

Think @FraserNelson might be on to something in yesterdays Times. The louder members of this government are the more inconsequential they are. Or rather the most consequential members - Mahmood, McFadden, Healey - are the quietest but the ones with the biggest decisions to make…

I've now received all the Christmas cards from our wonderful local primary schools for my annual Christmas card competition. As with every year, I have a feeling choosing a winner is going to be very difficult! (1/2)

We went on Holiday around 1963 or so to a place called Lifton in Devon (maybe earlier … though I can remember quite a lot of it) I am pretty sure Ambrosia were based nearby … this is the car we went in … I think it took about 12 hours to get there !!
As many followers will know … I still have the car

When Tony Blair did “Little Ant and Dec” just before the 2005 General Election I was really worried it might go wrong (as we he!) Well done to the teams working with @andyburnham & @KensingtonRoyal for having the courage to put their principals where people watch.

If you could all please CALM DOWN and try to not clear the bloody shelves of bog roll and pasta that would be awesome, thanks.

A serious subject. 👍🏻 I've a garage stash of mon perishable items big enough to see me thru to about 2050... 😋 But thought I'd just share this. Ingenious. Simply add water and they self heat. Taste good too. Not a patch on a Frey Bentos Kate & Sidney but in the event of a power/gas outage... piping hot! 😉

Always had them in our house at Christmas. Usually binned unopened some time in January.
I get sentiment, but most homes in 60s UK didn't have cars, a quarter of homes didn't have one of full hot water, bath/shower or internal loo, less than 30% had central heating, less than half of homes had a phone as late as '72 - hardship was different, better is a judgement

In my conversations with the @10DowningStreet and the Chancellor, I have been very clear that whilst we of course support net zero, we cannot have a jobless transition, abandon our energy security or offshore our carbon responsibilities. That is why we have argued for this decision on Jackdaw.
This gives us a bit more time to create and fund a concrete plan for commensurate jobs for workers currently working in the North Sea. Now we urgently need to use that and invest in industries like wind turbine manufacture and refining green jet fuel. We simply cannot let go of one rope until we have hold of another.
Energy Secretary @Miatsf has agreed that the regulator can grant consent for gas to be produced at the licensed Jackdaw field.
Gas from Jackdaw is expected to start reaching British homes and businesses as early as the end of this month.
