Just in ! 🇬🇧 Shaykh Asrar Rashid, a UK-based Islamist preacher, has sparked controversy over a sermon delivered at the Nottingham Islamic Centre in which he advocated armed jihad and preemptive strikes against White men He accused the "White man" of committing historical massacres and genocides and invoked Islamic teachings to justify taking up arms against those he considers responsible for oppression. Rashid also made controversial remarks at a pro-Palestinian demonstration in Birmingham in July 2025, defending armed struggle as a legitimate response to oppression. @radiobiafralive

WEDNESDAY MUSINGS A DESECRATED HOMELAND, A TERRIFIED PEOPLE: GOVERNOR PETER MBAH, THE TIME TO RECLAIM UKPATA IS NOW; RECLAIM UKPATA AND UZO-UWANI BEFORE A DE FACTO TERRITORIAL CONQUEST BECOMES IRREVERSIBLE It is the voice of a community; the voice of its people; the voice of Ukpata. Chief Eziuche Linus (Onowu of Ukpata) is not merely a major stakeholder in Ukpata community, Uzo-Uwani LGA, Enugu State; he is the eye, the voice and the mouthpiece of a community whose ancestral lands are reportedly being desecrated by monsters in human form. His account alleges that armed marauders, described as jihadist Fulani bandits masquerading as herdsmen, have forcibly occupied their farmlands. Their tale is devastating. I will share this disturbing exposition with the world, to draw attention to the agony of a community that fears it is being conquered and dispossessed within Enugu State, Nigeria. It is shocking, heartbreaking and deeply alarming. Ukpata is an agrarian community in Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area of Enugu State, whose people depend predominantly on farming for their survival. Yet, this disturbing account by a prominent community leader, contained in an audio message, paints a harrowing picture of alleged territorial encroachment, displacement, sexual violence and the progressive loss of ancestral farmlands to armed jihadist marauders reportedly masquerading as herdsmen. It is important to issue this disclaimer: the expression “jihadist Fulani bandits” as employed in the context of this text is not intended to generalise or characterise the entire Fulani ethnic group as jihadists or bandits. It refers specifically to the criminal elements alleged to be operating from thick forests, where they reportedly carry out their nefarious activities. Criminality must be confronted without ethnic prejudice, but neither should the fear of being misunderstood prevent us from speaking forcefully against the atrocities of armed criminal groups. The account is mind-boggling, profoundly distressing and demands urgent intervention. How can such a situation persist in a state widely commended for its governance while an agrarian community lives under the shadow of fear, dispossession and possible annihilation? His Excellency, Governor Peter Mbah, must do more to sanitise these forests and reclaim these desecrated lands. Ukpata is in Enugu State. These are your people. Their ancestral lands fall within your jurisdiction, and their cries must not go unanswered. Something must be done, and it must be done now. The community leader’s account alleges that women have been subjected to violent rape on their ancestral farmlands, while those who challenge the marauders face threats and possible elimination. What ought to be an unthinkable violation of human dignity is, according to this disturbing testimony, becoming a terrifying reality. This is not merely a security incident; it is an assault on human dignity, communal existence and the fundamental right of a people to live, farm and remain on their ancestral land without fear. No government should watch helplessly while its citizens lose the freedom to cultivate their farms, protect their families and move safely within their own homeland. Where are the security agencies? Where are the forest guards? Where is the coordinated security response required to reclaim these territories and restore the confidence of the displaced and terrorised people? Where, too, are Ohanaeze Ndigbo and the Igbo youths while communities are losing their ancestral heritage in broad daylight, even as political calculations and electioneering increasingly dominate public attention? Must the people of Ukpata wait until the situation deteriorates beyond redemption before their cries receive the attention they deserve? The situation in Uzo-Uwani demands a serious, independent investigation and immediate, decisive action. Governor Mbah, this is the time to take the bull by the horns: deploy the necessary security resources, investigate these allegations, protect vulnerable residents, recover unlawfully occupied farmlands and ensure that displaced families can return safely to their homes and livelihoods. The forests must not become sanctuaries from which armed criminal elements terrorise law-abiding citizens and progressively undermine the authority of the state. I must sound this alarm unequivocally: if the alleged territorial encroachment is allowed to continue unchecked, there is a grave danger that more ancestral lands will be lost, more families displaced and more communities reduced to frightened spectators in their own homeland. What begins as the occupation of a few farmlands may, if left unchecked, evolve into a de facto territorial conquest that becomes increasingly difficult to reverse. We must not wait until today’s desperate cries become tomorrow’s irreversible tragedy. His Excellency, Governor Peter Mbah @PNMbah, who has commendably done well in areas of governance, I urge you to seek every necessary form of assistance now. Do not wait until the situation metastasises into a wider territorial and humanitarian crisis. The people of Ukpata deserve protection, not abandonment; security, and the assurance that no community will be sacrificed to the advance of armed violence. The preservation of their ancestral lands is not merely a local concern; it is a test of the state’s capacity to protect lives, uphold the law and prevent the gradual erosion of public authority in vulnerable rural communities. The time for urgent intervention is now. Let history record that when the alarm was sounded, decisive action followed, not that the cries of a threatened community were ignored until the damage became irreversible. Osita dị mma, ọ dịbara gboo. Signed Sir Ifeanyi Ejiofor, Esq., KSC Dunu-Ezeugosinschi October 28, 2026

MONDAY MUSINGS THE CROWNING LAUREL OF THE YEAR FROM THE FOURTH ESTATE OF THE REALM Throughout the evolution of my legal career, I have held two vital institutions in the highest esteem: the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), the professional body that defines my calling and to which I proudly belong, and the media, the indispensable watchdog of society and a formidable bulwark against injustice, abuse of power and institutional impunity. At a time when the institutional pillars of our democracy are increasingly tested, the media has assumed an even more consequential responsibility, not merely in holding those entrusted with public power accountable, but also in amplifying the voices of the unheard, exposing societal ills and safeguarding the democratic space. Without a courageous, independent and responsible media, our democracy would be immeasurably diminished. It is against this profound appreciation of the media’s indispensable role that I express my deepest and most heartfelt gratitude to Creekvibes Magazine for conferring on me the distinguished honour of “Most Outstanding Human Rights Lawyer of the Year” at its Annual Creekvibes Magazine Awards held on Sartuday the 24th day of October , 2026. I regard this recognition as the crowning laurel of my professional honours this year, another feather added to our cap. It is a truly exceptional distinction because it comes from the Fourth Estate of the Realm, an institution whose responsibility to scrutinise power, document societal realities and preserve the truth resonates deeply with my lifelong commitment to human rights advocacy. To me, this is far more than an award; it is an acknowledgement of our interventions in the affairs of our society, particularly our unwavering efforts to defend the oppressed, challenge injustice, protect fundamental freedoms and give a voice to those whose rights have been trampled upon. Coming from the media, this recognition is especially meaningful because it reflects an independent appreciation of the work we do and the sacrifices that often accompany the pursuit of justice, frequently away from the glare of public applause. Indeed, the true worth of a professional calling is not measured exclusively by the accolades it attracts, but by the lives it touches, the injustices it confronts and the enduring difference it makes in society. Nevertheless, when an institution as consequential as the media pauses to acknowledge one’s modest contributions, it is both humbling and profoundly reassuring. Such recognition renews one’s faith in the importance of perseverance and affirms that, even in the face of daunting challenges, principled advocacy remains worthwhile. To the management and entire team of Creekvibes Magazine , I extend my profound appreciation for finding me worthy of this honour. I receive it with humility, gratitude and an abiding sense of responsibility. Your recognition is deeply cherished, and I do not take it for granted. Rather, it strengthens my resolve to do more, speak up more courageously and remain steadfast in the defence of the oppressed, the vulnerable and those whose voices might otherwise go unheard. I also recognise that this honour is not a personal possession to be celebrated in isolation; it is a solemn encouragement to sustain the struggle for justice and to remain faithful to the ideals that have guided our interventions over the years. The work of human rights advocacy is never truly finished, and no individual accolade can substitute for the collective responsibility we owe to humanity. We shall, therefore, continue to stand on the side of justice, guided by conscience, fortified by conviction and inspired by the enduring belief that every human life deserves dignity and protection under the law. Above all, I return all glory, honour and adoration to God Almighty, whose abiding faithfulness, immeasurable mercies and sustaining grace have remained my strength throughout this journey. Every milestone is a testament to His goodness, and every honour is a reminder that the privilege to serve humanity is itself a divine responsibility. Whatever good has been accomplished, and whatever milestones we may yet attain, His grace remains the ultimate source of our strength. To God alone be all the glory. It can only be God! Woman Raises Alarm Over Rising Deaths of Igbo Men, Calls for Self-Reflection Among Women A woman has raised concerns over the recent death among Igbo men, urging Igbo women to engage in self-reflection, as the widespread demise of men are far from ordinary. She noted that the expectations placed on men are excessively high and called on women to reduce the burdens and stresses they impose on Igbo men, thereby granting their husbands greater peace of mind. She further lamented the prevalence of infidelity among women, asserting that such infidelity contributes significantly to the death of Igbo men.

The IPOB that Dave Umahi claims to have dismantled and destroyed is still the same group he accuses of backing and campaigning for Peter Obi. This behavior, along with their complaints about being insulted, as well as Tinubu being insulted, raises questions about why those who enjoy insulting, abusing, and blackmailing tend to be so vocal when confronted with the truth. They label every truth as offenses. Dave Umahi let’s see how it will go down in 2027. #IPOB is here. @DaveUmahi @PeterObi @real_IpobDOS @radiobiafralive @NgLabour @OfficialPDPNig @OfficialAPCNg @AnambraNewMedia @ADCNig

Police Allegedly Called on 3-Year-Old Boy at Florida Game, Family Says He 'Had the Ball Too Long' Nevada was playing against children around five years old, with video showing him dribbling past opponents and scoring Three-year-old soccer player Nevada was reportedly escorted from a youth game in Florida after his family said police were called over complaints that he was keeping possession of the ball for too long. The incident unfolded during an i9 Sports league match in Winter Park, where Nevada was playing against children around five years old. Videos shared by his family show the toddler repeatedly controlling the ball and scoring as adults watched from the sidelines. 'They really called the police on a 3-year-old because he had the ball too much,' Nevada's father said in the video. ibtimes.co.uk/three-year-old…

WEEKEND MUSINGS THE GATHERING STORM OVER ALA-IGBO: THE NYSC KIDNAP MYSTERY, FULANI TERROR SUSPECTS AND THE DANGERS LURKING IN OUR FORESTS I do not intend to dabble in the raging controversy surrounding the circumstances of the rescue of the abducted NYSC corps members in Imo State, particularly as their parents and security agencies continue to trade words over the alleged payment of ransom, which the police insist was not paid. Both sides have maintained their respective positions, and this controversy may not end anytime soon. My intervention, therefore, is not to adjudicate on that dispute, but to draw attention to the more disturbing security implications of this incident. First, we must thank Almighty God for sparing the lives of these young graduates, whose only offence was travelling across the country to undertake their mandatory one-year national service. The NYSC scheme was primarily designed to promote national integration by exposing young Nigerians to different cultures, ethnicities and environments. This is why a graduate from Anambra may be posted to Maiduguri, another from Sokoto to Enugu, and vice versa. Beyond cultural exchange, the scheme has fostered lifelong friendships, permanent relocation and inter-ethnic marriages. It is therefore, a tragic irony that a scheme designed to unite should expose its young beneficiaries to the very dangers that threaten national cohesion. I also commend the security operatives who mobilised across Owerri and the surrounding forest areas during the operation. Whether the corps members were rescued through a direct assault or released following some form of understanding, their safe return deserves gratitude. We must, however, distinguish commendation from complacency: the circumstances of their release must be properly established, and the public deserves credible answers. My particular interest lies in the reported operation under the leadership of DSS Director-General- Mr. Oluwatosin Adeola Ajayi and, especially, the apprehension of culprits now identified as Fulani jihadists. The arrest of these monsters in human form would represent a significant departure from the familiar pattern in which innocent youths and traders of Igbo extraction may, in similar circumstances, be randomly picked up, branded as criminals and paraded as security successes. That is no longer the case under the current leadership of the DSS. Recall that we have long raised the alarm about the infiltration of our forests by armed Fulani jihadists masquerading as herdsmen and called for serious security measures to contain them. Our warnings in this regard should now be taken seriously. The implications of these arrests are frightening. They mean that our forests are no longer merely expanses of vegetation; in areas where these armed jihadist groups establish operational bases beyond effective state control, the forests can become launching pads for kidnapping, terror and territorial intimidation. The reported abduction of road users on Igbo soil, with ransom allegedly demanded and paid, should therefore be treated as a grave warning, not another headline to be forgotten when the next political drama takes centre stage. Our leaders must understand that insecurity, when ignored, does not remain politely within the boundaries of a forest. Today, it may be travellers on our highways; tomorrow, it could be farmers driven from their ancestral lands, communities subjected to extortion, and families living under the perpetual threat of violence. Where such criminal expansion is allowed to flourish, the ultimate danger is the gradual erosion of local authority and the freedom of our people in their own homeland. This is not an imaginary threat. Reports of violent incursions and displacement by Fulani jihadist bandits in agrarian communities, including Ukpaka and Mbanano in Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area of Enugu State, under the watchful eyes of the Enugu state government, demand urgent and independent scrutiny. Allegations, supported by eyewitness accounts, that residents of these affected communities have been driven from their farms and that women and girls have suffered abuse must not be dismissed or buried under official silence. Such atrocities would represent a grave failure of the state’s primary responsibility to protect lives and property. My appeal to DSS Director-General , is simple: do not stop at arrests. Pursue credible intelligence, dismantle the operational networks, identify those financing and supplying these armed jihadist groups masquerading as Fulani herdsmen, and support lawful, coordinated efforts to secure our forests. Arresting the foot soldiers while leaving their bases, sponsors and supply chains intact is akin to cutting the branches of a poisonous tree while watering its roots. Every operation must be intelligence-led, lawful and sustained, with innocent residents protected from indiscriminate profiling. The anti-open-grazing laws enacted in parts of Ala-Igbo must also be enforced in accordance with the law. No individual or group should enjoy immunity from the law under the guise of cattle grazing, ethnic identity or political patronage. Equally, the criminality discussed in this text is not attributed to an entire ethnic group; culpability belongs to the perpetrators and their collaborators, not to people who share their ancestry. Ala-Igbo is sitting on a keg of gunpowder, and the fuse may already be burning. The experiences of communities in Benue, Plateau and parts of Uzo-Uwani LGA in Enugu State should serve as warnings, not spectacles we watch from a safe distance. A people who refuse to confront danger while it is still manageable may eventually discover that the price of delay is far greater than the cost of prevention. Once again, I commend the operatives involved in this reported breakthrough. Let the operation mark the beginning of a sustained campaign. The forests must be secured, vulnerable communities protected, and every criminal network dismantled through lawful and decisive action. The time for the total sanitisation and liberation of Ala-Igbo is NOW—not tomorrow, not when our communities have been overrun, and certainly not when our people become strangers in their ancestral homeland. When the roof is on fire, the responsible householder does not wait for the flames to reach the bedroom before raising the alarm. Signed: Sir Ifeanyi Ejiofor, Esq. In Niger State, Muslim jihadists entered a majority Muslim village while hunting for Christians. They told the Muslims they were not the ones they were looking for. They told them to leave, to get out of harm’s way, and to find a safe place because the hunt was for Christians. On the video they say they will not hurt the Muslims. They are searching for Christians. This is not random violence. This is selective targeting. Muslim jihadists in Nigeria separate people by religion, spare Muslims, and go after Christians. The Nigerian government and the media hide this. They call it farmer-herder clashes, banditry, or “everyone is affected.” They do not show the videos where the attackers themselves say they are looking for Christians and will not touch the Muslims. When the attackers tell Muslims to run and then continue searching for Christians, that is the evidence. The denial is the cover-up. Nigerians need to wake up. The pattern is clear on the ground. The silence from those who should speak is deliberate. In an audio message sent to members of the Igbo Youth Movement (IYM) by its recently released leader, Justice Ozobi, and obtained by Family Writers Press International, Ozobi addressed his earlier criticisms of DOS. He stated that DOS, led by Chika Edoziem, is made up of men of timber and calibre, as well as men of integrity and honour who deserve respect. Ozobi disclosed that after conducting an investigation and obtaining vital information, he now regrets his previous utterances and attacks against the Chika Edoziem-led DOS. He subsequently directed IYM members to cease all attacks on DOS. He further instructed them to ignore online media, which he described as “touts” whose actions could provoke confrontation with DOS.

Nigeria received $2.85 billion in diaspora remittances through formal money transfer operators in the first half (H1) of 2026, a 38.2 percent increase from a year earlier. The surge is strengthening a vital source of foreign currency for Africa’s most populous country, but it also raises a question, how much of the growth reflects Nigerians abroad sending more money home, and how much comes from transfers moving into regulated channels?
