How the hell can there be 3+ hour lines to vote in the USA? Something is seriously wrong. Are they hoping people will give up? I vote every election in the U.K. and donโ€™t queue for more than a couple of minutes. Sinister goings on.

All across the world Data Centers are being built on so called 'Green Belt' land. This land is almost worthless (because YOU are not allowed to build on it) and so is bought incredibly cheaply. Of course 'miraculously' THEY are allowed to build on it. That is why.
Why aren't data centers going into old industrial sites? Aren't there enough old, rust belt areas that need to be redeveloped?

This could easily be avoided by NOT having fucking refrigerators of all things, connected to the Internet.
BREAKING: ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡ช Swedish grocery giant ICA, one of Sweden's largest supermarket chains, says several of its stores have been hit by a cyberattack overnight, causing refrigerators and freezers to be remotely set to 50ยฐC. The incident has likely resulted in large quantities of food spoiling. Multiple stores, including ICA Kvantum in Sjรถbo and Tomelilla, have reported being affected. ICA says stores will remain closed during the morning and are expected to reopen at 9:00 a.m. Swedish time. The company has apologized to customers and says it is working to restore normal operations. The incident comes amid a wave of cyberattacks targeting businesses recent weeks, following similar incidents reported in France and the United States.

Two questions. 1. Why the fuck does a fridge freezer need to be connected to the internet? 2. Why the fuck does a fridge freezer have heat settings up to 70C? Who the fuck wants to warm their food up in a fridge freezer?
JUST IN: Fridges and freezers at some supermarkets in Belgium, Luxembourg and Sweden were hacked overnight. Hackers changed the temperature settings to as high as 70ยฐC (158ยฐF), causing food to spoil. The damage is expected to run into the millions.

May I be so bold as to suggest disconnecting them from the internet and setting their temperatures manually?

I warned the Office for Environmental Protection that polluters were paying cash to trash nature and potentially breaching the law. The @OfficeforEP has echoed my concerns that the first scheme under the new Planning Act risks worse outcomes for nature. This must not go ahead.
The Planning Act promised a win-win for nature and housing. But the first scheme under these new rules now risks killing chalk streams and appears to breach the law. The Office for Environmental Protection must step in before a "pay cash to trash" precedent is set.

We have intel that Russia is preparing a new massive attack on our country โ€“ primarily targeting energy and logistics. The assumption is basically that tomorrow the world will be watching the American midterms, and what is happening here in Ukraine, along with our difficulties with air defense and Patriot missiles, will be overlooked. We need signals from the world to Russia that will make them feel that terror is no good, that it will bring no gains, and that as long as this war continues, their oil will burn, and they will not be able to make money doing business with the world. We must not play games with Russiaโ€™s oil or gas revenues. We must put pressure on Russia in such a way that it has no alternative but to end this war. America can do this.

Why canโ€™t hackers do something useful and relatable? Donโ€™t be fucking around with freezers. Hack into Mastercard and wipe out all evidence of spending. Lower the prices at petrol pumps. Shut down Microsoft Teams, or takedown Outlook for 72 hours. Win hearts and minds!

Is Portugal who transported more slaves than the UK being asked for reparations? Arab and Muslim slave traders forcibly moved 17 million black Africans through various routes are they going to be asked for reparations? Or is it only the soft touch UK?

What I'd like to hear the King say. "The transatlantic slave trade was a shameful period of history, but history is where it belongs. Britain didn't invent the trade, but she did end it, costing the lives of 2000 Royal Navy sailors. We have already made amends."

W T F is this ??? Maybe the country whose president keeps insultiung others as "shithole countries" should fix its elections system first. Never in my whole life did I have to wait longer than 10 minutes in Germany to cast my vote. Not even with harshest Covid restrictions.

On behalf of the British people, I would like to apologise for the slave trade. I am sorry we were the first great power in history to turn its guns on it. I am sorry it cost us around 2,000 sailors to free 150,000 people they would never meet. I am sorry the rest of the world took so long to follow. Slavery did not begin with Britain. It is as old as civilisation. Babylon wrote it into law. Rome built an empire on it. The Vikings sold Englishmen through the slave market at Dublin. In 1625 Barbary corsairs took 60 men, women and children out of a Cornish church; by 1640 Parliament was told 3,000 to 5,000 English people were held in Algiers alone. Every great power of the age took part in the Atlantic trade. Portugal and Spain for a century before an English ship did. Then the Dutch, the French โ€” and the British, who in the eighteenth century carried more than anyone. That is the record. It is not disputed here. Then a nation turned on the trade that had made it rich. Wilberforce's bill was beaten year after year. On 25 March 1807 it passed. Then Britain did the part the critics never mention โ€” it sent the Royal Navy to enforce it. The West Africa Squadron sailed in 1808, two ships for 3,000 miles of coast, and hunted slavers for nearly sixty years. Britain paid Spain and Portugal to open their ships to search. HMS Black Joke ran down the slaver El Almirante in 1829 and found 466 people in her hold. Around 2,000 British sailors died doing it โ€” most of fever, to free people they would never meet. 1,600 slave ships seized. 150,000 Africans set free. In 1833 Parliament borrowed ยฃ20 million to end slavery across the Empire. The debt was not finally redeemed until 2015. The United States needed a civil war. Cuba held slaves until 1886. Brazil until 1888 โ€” eighty-one years after Westminster voted. Yes, we took part in the trade. Every power of the age did. None of them fought it like we did. So yes. I will apologise. I am sorry it cost us so much. I am sorry the rest of the world took so long to follow. That is not something you apologise for. That is something you teach. #history #britishhistory #royalnavy #westafricasquadron
