Updating our business plan and reflecting on how far we've come and how far we have to go. We're now up to 37% female membership. Not the 50% we'd like to see, but steady improvement from our early days!

A message from the FIRST Canada Board of Directors
FIRST Canada is an organization that upholds strong values in Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion; as such, we always endeavor to support young girls and women in their drive to access STEAM experiences, broaden their knowledge, and strengthen skills that would provide a brighter future for them. We are deeply saddened by the developing situation in Afghanistan, especially due to the personal relationships many of us in the community built with the Afghan Girls Robotics team when they came to Canada in 2018. We encourage the Canadian government to provide support in securing the safety of the girls, their families, and the team mentors, in addition to all women who might be in imminent danger at this time.

Sometimes we see things in the news that seem shocking or upsetting, but then we have a tendency to move on. The events are too distant, too abstract, too hard to connect with. 5/

We're thinking hard about our friends from Afghanistan, hoping they're safe, that they're holding on to hope, and that the international community will do everything it can to support all of those normal Afghan teenagers that just want to do normal teenager things. 6/x
