I swear I've never seen a tutorial address this. I don't know if this effect has a name but I think I have a better way to draw it correctly rather than *vibing* it out or finding a reference. someone who knows better can correct me if I'm wrong, im not a professional.

All we see is light, so draw what the light describes instead of what you think you see. When you can do that you can extend it to bounce light, ambient occlusion and texture. Then you can paint anything
