Is that it?
John Healey had a big job to do cleaning up Labour’s mess. This Budget fails to do it.
Britain is overspent, overborrowed and overtaxed. This Budget does not come close to meeting the moment.

No wonder Angela Rayner is stocking up on Sauvignon Blanc.
If Russia attacks while this lot are in charge, we’ll all need a drink.

Nothing to cut the £183 billion benefits bill.
Nothing on jobs for the 1 million NEETs.
Nothing on *how* we’ll fund 3% of GPD on defence.
Today was the Chancellor’s big day, shame the plan was missing in action.

When John Healey stands up today and tells us he will be taxing the banks just remember.
It won't be the banks that pay. It will be you.

Britain is facing a fiscal cliff edge.
Taxes are at record highs. Debt is £3 trillion. Welfare is out of control. Our armed forces are not properly funded.
John Healey MUST take tough decisions today.👇
If he kicks the can down the road, we will all pay for it.

Burnham’s own former adviser, Lord O’Neill, knows Labour’s economic plans are a fantasy.
The best way to help EVERY postcode? Get borrowing costs DOWN!
Spending more money we don’t have won’t make us richer.

40 years ago today, the Big Bang transformed the City. 💥
It opened new markets, made us more competitive, and richer.
Share ownership became more accessible, the cost of gilts fell by 72% and the City’s equity turnover exceeded £1 billion in a year.
We need another Big Bang.

Prices up. Energy bills up. Mortgages up.
The country’s tax burden and borrowing at record highs.
I love a good gherkin, but the government’s response is not equal to the scale of the challenges.

If the Home Secretary dilutes her own policy on ILR because Angela Rayner is calling the shots, surely her position is untenable
If she needs our votes to get the original policy through undiluted she has them (tho we would go further)
But will she stand firm against Angela?

Britain's biggest ever petition wasn't about Britain. 📜
1814. We'd just beaten Napoleon. The peace treaty gave France five more years of the slave trade. ⚓
Our own government had signed it. The country erupted. 🔥
One in every seventeen people signed. Children included. ✍️
Castlereagh took those names to Vienna. He could have asked for anything. He asked for an end to the slave trade. ⚖️
France never got its five years because of the British people. 🇫🇷 🫷🇬🇧
Be part of us. ☝️🇬🇧
Be Proud Of Us. 🙏🇬🇧

Young people need hope. They can see the government isn't on their side.
The Chancellor could make it cheaper and easier to hire them. @Conservatives would.
I sat down with the @Daily_Express to warn Labour against ignoring this.

Tomorrow, Labour must get the welfare bill under control and properly fund our defence.
Britain will spend an extra £50 billion on working-age welfare by 2030, compared with £15 billion for Defence Investment Plan.
Britain’s defence cannot come second.

Britain needs Labour to clean up Starmer’s mess…not a ‘nothing to see here’ Budget

Tell Labour to Axe the Family Farm Tax at the budget.

Andy Burnham has time for Gogglebox. Does he have time to govern?
The Budget is where we discover what he believes, what his plan costs and who is going to pay for it.
Being convivial is no substitute for being in charge.

Britain’s debt is now more than £3 trillion.
The Government is borrowing just to pay the interest bill.
Burnham’s EU fantasy is nothing but a distraction.
But what has gone unnoticed by the Remainer media is the fact that the UK’s dire finances would rule out rejoining!
EU rules state that national debt should be below 60% of GDP; the UK’s is approaching 100%.
And the EU’s deficit limit is 3%. The UK’s is 4.2%.
When these rules were drawn up, the concerns centred on Portugal, Italy, Greece and Spain – the so-called ‘PIGS’.
Today, the UK Government pays higher interest rates on its borrowing than any of them.
Sadly, we are now at the bottom of the sty…
PM reiterates what he has previously said, that he'd like the UK to rejoin the EU at some point in his lifetime
