Absolutely brilliant day at @researchED_US sharing what @fyn8 and I learnt about vulnerability in leadership and - most importantly - the steps you can take to bridge the gap between the research and actual leadership practice. Full room with the best audience. Loved it. Every minute 🤩 #rEDNYC26
Among other sessions, loved @DrJimHeal and Rebekah Berlin’s session on Mental Models - knew this one was going to be good as I’ve read the book 📖

In 2023 Ofsted rated Mossbourne Victoria Park Academy Outstanding in all areas. This week it discovers the "inflexible" behaviour policies it has encouraged and praised for years, harm children - as many of us have repeatedly pointed out. This dreadful organisation needs to go.

Ofsted rated Mossbourne Victoria Park "Outstanding". This week it was confirmed that the school's "approach to discipline" could "impact any pupil" and was "particularly harmful" for "a significant minority." Hands up everyone who expected anything better from our inspectorate.

The damning review of Mossbourne Victoria Park Academy has wider implications for 'zero-tolerance' behaviour policies.
Shouting at students was "routine", a "climate of fear" was created for staff & students, and SEND adjustments were "inadequate".

What does Ofsted’s school inspection toolkit mean for professional learning?
"Ofsted’s move away from the term ‘CPD’ is more than just semantic. It signals a shift away from fragmented training days and courses towards a sustained journey of professional growth."
In this blog @ProfKime unpacks what this shift means for schools, and how leaders can build highly effective cultures of professional learning and expertise.

The latest ofsted model will simply perpetuate, or possibly worsen, what is already happening. It is a dead parrot simple as that. The selection by compliance schs will continue to be rewarded. The inclusive ones will live in fear of the next insp. People will be damaged again
