Early Sunday morning we wrapped on my 1st feature film and directorial debut, A Gettysburg Haunting (@aghaunting). It was an incredible experience with incredible people and I can’t wait to show you everyone’s hard work that brought this paranormal movie to life!
You want your movie to feel cinematic? For starters, learn about shot composition, and whatever you do, DO NOT underestimate SOUND
Then they’re not meant to be part of your team
Replying to @gabebraxton
And when you do actually believe in yourself, and learn to speak with confidence, then people will say you have an ego.
In this movie making business, the first person you need to believe in you, is yourself. The more you believe in you, the more others will believe in you, then sooner than later you’ll have a team to help you reach your filmmaking goals
Does anyone know of a virtual screening platform?
Zoom is my backup, but I want to know if somewhere specializes in it

Free work is part of the gig. Or at least working way more than you're being paid for.
I agree with Luke. I’ve gotten some money up front for writing and directing A Gettysburg Haunting (@aghaunting), but in comparison to how much time I’ve put into it, I’m far in the negative, and it’s been worth every minute
If you want to see success you have to invest

I saw someone on here talking about how no one should ever work for free. They were talking about acting but I think it can equate to any film industry job. Look, while I know producers and execs are taking advantage more than ever, I just want to say that is insane advice.
I do work for free or dirt cheap all the time. Every "yes" from me boils down to at least one of four things: does it pay really well, is it for a close friend or someone I love collaborating with, am I obsessed with it creatively, or do I see a clear path how it could push my career forward. If one of those hits, I'm probably in.
I can pinpoint the VAST majority of higher paying gigs I've had directly back to a gig I did for free or for like $200/day. 90% of success in this industry is built on meeting awesome people and them realizing you are also awesome. This industry is all about stuff like that.
Don't get taken advantage of, but also don't immediately close the door on opportunities because of some made up rule.

In a world of craziness, just know you are loved, you are worthy, you are the only you, and the world is brighter and better with you in it.
