Pilots and flight attendants have the highest cancer risk of any occupation. One likely culprit: spending decades at cruising altitude, above much of the atmosphere that normally protects us from cosmic radiation. The study tracked 12.7 million deaths across 503 occupations from 2000 to 2024. The long-term health implications of living on the Moon or in space aren’t rosy based on this data. In a recent study, pupils using AI saw their average homework score rise by 18% across all subjects after six months. But come exam time, the same students scored 20% below their classmates who had not called on AI’s help. We analyse the data: bit.ly/4cyDMAf

New preprint! We re-analyze 46 papers that use log-like specifications (ln(Z+1), inverse hyperbolic sine, etc). We find widespread non-robustness, and we show through theory + simulation how these models drive spurious significance. 1/ doi.org/10.31222/osf.io/juda…

What happens when Swedish women are biologically incapable of naturally bearing children? They earn roughly the same as men! Bravo to @landais_camille et al - who examine a rare congenital condition to track the gender pay gap. (Assuming these women are otherwise normal).
