People whining about AI and data centers are being dragged into the next century kicking and screaming, similarly to those who wanted cars restricted because they killed pedestrians and stole the streets from everyone else.
PSA for the Fellas with Riding Mowers.
Don't forget to winterize them before putting them away for the season:
- Wash it down get grass and dirt off it
-Change the oil
-Add fuel stabilizer to the tank
-Check and clean air filter if you have one
-Disconnect the battery (or use a trickle charger)
-Top off tire pressure
-Store and cover with a tarp
Forty years old on the 18th, Series X warmed up, Ultimate Edition installed, no party planned. If you need me the week of November 18, you already know where I'll be.
What if GTA VI was literally planned to release when it does to coincide with another pandemic (like what's happening in Russia) to make people more ok with the lockdowns...
🧵 Society is under real strain. The next several years are the window where that strain is most likely to peak.
Full collapse is still the low-probability outcome. A serious national crisis that resets institutions, living standards, or political order is not.
Top 10, most important first:
1. Get medically and physically capable. 90-day prescriptions. Fitness to walk, lift, and work for days. Untreated illness takes people out before hunger does.
2. Lock in water. At least 1 gallon per person per day for two weeks, plus a filter and tablets. Water fails faster than food.
3. Build 30–90 days of food you will actually eat, and a way to cook it without the grid. Rotate it.
4. Kill high-interest debt. Keep several weeks of cash in small bills. Split savings across a bank, hard assets, and something you can spend if cards fail.
5. Home security and real competence with the firearms you already own. Training, medical gear staged with the guns, lights, locks, a simple plan.
6. Heat, power, and fuel for a winter outage. Safe alternate heat, CO alarms, rotated fuel, a battery bank or generator.
7. Trauma kit. Tourniquets, pressure bandages, chest seals, antiseptics, real OTC stocks.
8. A written household plan. Roles, rally points, an out-of-area contact, a few trusted neighbors. Isolated stockpiles fail after a week.
9. Comms that do not depend on one carrier. Weather radio, printed maps, power banks, a basic radio net with one other household.
10. Mobility ready, not romantic. Full tanks as a habit, a vehicle kit, copies of IDs and key papers, a 72-hour bag per person. Leave only if the house stops being the safer option.
