What I've been trying to explain for months, in one pithy tweet 🤭 @laurahaggarty5 @Sacha_Will @lah0901 @StephBeringer1
Many people in the improvement world are passionate advocates of one approach/model, eg Lean, Agile, 6 Sigma, Prince 2. They have deep knowledge & expertise but can get so locked into their one perspective that they can't see anything beyond it. Solutions to most complex problems lie at the intersection of different approaches. To see these solutions, we need to break through intellectual silos, and blur the boundaries between different approaches: bit.ly/3BjVFzO By @gapingvoid

Those working to improve health outcomes across systems can learn a lot from the learning & evaluation approach adopted by @savechildrenuk for its early learning communities. It's based on a systems change approach with a maturity model: collaboratecic.com/learning-… TY @CollaborateCIC

The best way for us to learn practical change/improvement skills is in real time, working on priorities that matter to us. So real-time improvement coaching is more effective than training courses as the primary method for skilling people up for improvement. Graphic: @moina_abdul

The place to start is to understand your system, from the perspective of how well it meets its purpose (as defined by its customers, not you), and then reflect on what this tells you, and why it is like this.
Then…think about what really needs to change

Targets may work in a health system with some slack & room to tighten up. But if demand on the system is over capacity & services are overwhelmed, targets are pointless. They just add further stress for staff & distort clinical priorities on the ground.

Are you trying to make public services more human and adaptable? Human Learning Systems Week (10th - 14th October) will bring the HLS community together online to share, learn and celebrate all things HLS! @SystemsHuman
An interesting article focused on blending design thinking and systems thinking. Wondering who out there has experience of doing this in practice? Would love to hear from you @DanHarley3 @TheQI_Guy @hlshearer @theQCommunity @SQSFellowship
How about mixing both Design Thinking and Systems Thinking? In this article, @Daniel Ospina and @Amy Ahearn helps to summarize these ideas in a very interesting way.

This! Always found that groups respond more once they know their ideas have been noted, heard and captured.

We had a @SystemChangeSch facilitators meeting yesterday - one question we discussed is - what is different when taking a #systemschange approach as supposed to what we already do? What actions are different - twitter do you have any good examples or answers to this question?
