The past six months have been the hardest in Pixelgrade’s history. They were also an opportunity to learn valuable lessons and question our way of doing things. We made a lot of sacrifices, but all this effort paid off and made us better and stronger. 👇 pixelgrade.com/blog/culture/…

In these blurry times, I think we need to double down on the clarity with which we can see our environment. This is my attempt at doing this for the WordPress ecosystem. The State of the WordPress Economy buff.ly/2LrfM5C

I wonder if a cultural ethos/movement around “positive sum” would resonate widely It’d recognize our increasingly intertwining fates, the importance of expanding (+sharing) the pie, and the need to refocus our attention towards abundance rather than scarcity, envy & status games
Given that people are wired to seek status, how can we make status more of a positive sum game? The internet offered people many new opportunities for status--new identities & communities & fields (whereas before it was mostly highschool sports) What's the next innovation here?

Boiling coffee with a moka. This is a movie made with neutron images that shows the coffe making process. The movie was made at the cold neutron imaging beam line ICON at the Paul Scherrer Institute. The movie is 12x in the gif and 4x in the full video: buff.ly/2KDuOT4

Do y’all remember, before the internet, that people thought the cause of stupidity was the lack of access to information? Yeah. It wasn’t that. 🤦🏼‍♀️

Can we get this but for UI patterns? Libraries I've seen are all incomplete and shallow.

Look, open-space offices may be necessary for some companies, if they can’t afford private offices. But don’t dress up such a compromise as “good collaboration”. Just apologize to workers for subjecting them, allow remote work to escape it, and commit to Library Rules within.

“Knowing that others are watching us limits the degree to which we might creatively solve a problem, and therefore be more productive, according to a study he conducted with factory workers. ‘Do I look busy?’ becomes more important than ‘Am I doing my best work?’”
