To ruin a little speculation fun, the DEBUG_FAR_LANDS option was added to compare performance with/without the patch that originally removed the Far Lands (as it has some non-zero cost). There is no intention to *how* the Far Lands generate -

After all, it was always a bug - with new worldgen in 1.18, as well as changes to noises in 26.3, the exact form has changed. But honestly, that it’s totally unintentional is what makes it fun and so interesting to me. :)

This is really sad 😢 This has been one of my favourite features with IntelliJ 😔 I can empathise with the cost of maintaining a feature like it, but there’s something symbolic in prioritising AI features over collaboration features so much 😅

I can empathise where it comes from, but the take that “AI is simply a tool to enhance my work, and isn’t ever going to replace humans” really doesn’t sit well with me.😔 Why should that be true when business incentives are such that all human creativity is better optimised away?
