Unusual winter warmth in #Tasmania.
Yesterday some records for June were broken:

14.1C Devonport AP (also for all Devonport area)
Highest Maximums
19.2C Dover
18.2C Cape Bruny (current location)
This looks fun! #writing - kicks off this Friday... nycmidnight.com/ffc
Thanks @CravenWild for this review of Confluence! " ..the way the author really explores grief and loss, the humanity of it, not the commercial, superficial performance of it, really makes the book something a bit different" Full review: cravenwild.com/2023/05/26/co…

Today was both the hottest and coldest April day since April 2022 for everywhere in #Tasmania. This makes it pretty hard to choose between a puffer jacket and shorts, so we recommend going with both!

Read a great Reddit thread putting historical dates in perspective.
Here are 8 gems.
1/ The moon landing was only 66 years after the Wright Brothers first flight (1903-1969). Within a lifetime, humans went from having limited flight tech to travelling ~239k miles from Earth.

🚨 Breaking
@ElonMusk and other leaders have called for an immediate pause on AI.
And have signed an open letter citing potential risks to humanity.
I spent all morning reading through it.
Here are the shocking details (and how the pause impacts you):
My novel Confluence makes its debut on #booktok! ...This is the part where I go viral right? 😆🤩 #TikTok #indiepublishing #books vt.tiktok.com/ZS843xNjD/

Something about this altering of the Roald Dahl books concerns me. I'm not sure how ethical it is to edit the words of an author who is dead and can't accept or reject them.
Find new kids' books to publish, by living authors, instead of trying to polish things from another era.
Was my childhood fear of quicksand irrational or simply a premonition of the real (ok "minimal") risk at this BEACH I GO TO FREQUENTLY!!

Do we know if Microsoft's new AI chat bot will work with MS Office suite? (Or Google's with docs etc?) If we could upload files for it to read/use as info, or get it to generate files - spreadsheets, documents, etc. that would be amazing.

@gemchilton1's Confluence is one of those things that really uses present tense to it's advantage and I admire the sense of presence in the moment that Chiltonbcreates with it. Very excited to read this.
Omg this @abcnews story is enraging!! abc.net.au/news/2023-01-29/q…
Maybe I'm in a bubble, but everywhere I look it seems there's someone planning a move to Tasmania. The 'That's It I'm Moving To Tassie' FB group is constantly abuzz with people asking, '"but how cold is it *really*?"! 🧵
Download it if you've ever thought of moving to Tasmania, or share it with that friend who's been sending you Tassie real estate links at odd hours 👉gemmachilton.com/moving-to-t…
