Relentless collective action works. This is an existential fight. One battle won. We will win this war. Relentless collective action works.

Today in the Tennessee House (as well as the last week) is a pretty good argument for needing more women in politics! #JustSayin

This is correct! Under the bill sponsored by House Speaker @CSexton25, killing 10 of your own family members would NOT be counted as a “mass shooting” in Tennessee.
HB 7071 Changes the definition of a mass shooting to be 4 people in a public place, excluding gang shootings, residences, and others. The federal government says 3 people = mass shooting. This will skew the numbers to make it seem like there are less mass shootings in Tennessee than there really are. #SkewedNumbers #Fluff

I’ve worked with young people for a long time. I used to be one who didn’t vote. But I learned how important it was to start fighting for a better future—transit, housing, climate, justice. I hope we’re offering a better future to all Nashvillians. Polls open at 8. #BeAVoter

❤️GARTH BROOKS: “Diversity. Inclusiveness. That’s me. That’s always been me… diversity is the answer to our problems. If you come to our bar, come in with love.” @garthbrooks addresses the unhinged backlash to his NASHVILLE bar carrying Bud Light. This is leadership.

BREAKING: Tennessee @GovBillLee will sign an executive order aimed at strengthening background checks for firearm purchases, in addition to calling for lawmakers to pass a red flag law to keep guns away from dangerous individuals. #tnleg tennessean.com/story/news/po…

Reminder to @chrislhayes A key assault was the elimination of the long-held Nashville congressional seat, held until this year by @jimcoopertn. Divided us in 3 parts, with the rural areas dominating the politics. 1/
Obviously race is and racism is front and center in the events in the Tennessee, but another axis of conflict is the accelerating rural / metro divide, and the degree to which Republicans view growing, thriving metro areas as a threat.

HAPPENING NOW: Tennessee House Republicans vote to advance bill to allow teachers to carry guns in schools a week after a mass shooting in Nashville. This is the reaction from the mothers, teachers, and advocates gathered to oppose this reckless legislation. #ProtectKidsNotGuns

Permit-less carry will only make things more difficult for law enforcement.
Gov. DeSantis just signed a bill that allows people to carry concealed weapons without a permit, making Florida the 26th state to allow permitless carry. We spoke to Florida @SheriffMina who said this won’t make his state safer — in fact, just the opposite.

Students from Hume-Fogg and other area schools staged an action against gun violence Monday morning, joining a March for Our Lives rally for the same purpose. Students and allies marched to the state Capitol, continuing their call for gun control.

Tennessee @GovBillLee has offered his thoughts and prayers for Covenant School, but not his action. Shooting like today’s are why police and citizens opposed the permitless carry bill he signed into law at a gun maker's factory in 2021. #tnleg
I am closely monitoring the tragic situation at Covenant, & the @TNDeptofSafety & @TNHighwayPatrol are assisting local law enforcement & first responders at the scene. As we continue to respond, please join us in praying for the school, congregation & Nashville community.

I am extremely sad about the mass murder in a Nashville school today. But I’m also enraged. If three little kids died a tragic and different manner and there were logical steps we could take to prevent that from happening again, I have no doubt there would be action.

Sorry, Margaret.
Florida bill would ban young girls from discussing periods in school washingtonpost.com/politics/… Here's Ron DeSantis Universe, with GOP lawmakers nosing into your children's most private matters. Welcome to "free" Florida, right? What a farce.
