If you’re out in the countryside like me, don’t forget to set your rooster back an hour Sunday night.

Sun Tzu wrote that all warfare is based on deception.
Sun Tzu never opened a refrigerator in an American grandmother's house.
Last Sunday in Ohio, my coworker invited me to his grandmother's home for dinner.
On the wooden coffee table sat a round, royal-blue metal tin from Denmark. Printed on the lid were photographs of golden butter cookies dusted with sugar.
Grandma Ruth called from the kitchen: "Nobu, honey, open that blue tin on the table for me."
I bowed slightly, lifted the steel lid expecting European pastry, and came face to face with forty years of espionage.
There were zero cookies.
Inside lay twenty-eight wooden spools of thread, two pairs of heavy iron shears, a red velvet tomato impaled by forty silver needles, and three spare buttons from a coat purchased during the Reagan administration.
"Did you find the white thread, baby?" she asked, walking in.
"Your rations have been replaced by weapons," I informed her.
She laughed and patted my arm. "Nobody buys that tin for the cookies, sweetheart. You buy the tin so you have somewhere to put the tomato."
Later, she asked me to fetch the butter from the refrigerator.
I opened the door and saw three identical brown plastic tubs labeled COUNTRY CROCK BUTTER.
I opened the first tub. Cold pinto beans.
I opened the second tub. Leftover spaghetti sauce.
I opened the third tub. Somehow, drywall screws.
Nothing in an American grandmother's kitchen is what its armor claims it is. Every plastic container in the house has died once and been reincarnated as Tupperware.
When it was time to leave at nine o'clock, I went to the hallway to put on my wool jacket.
Earlier that week, the button on my right cuff had snapped off, leaving a loose thread I had been hiding all evening.
When I slipped my arm into the sleeve, I stopped.
Sewn tightly onto my right cuff with fresh white thread was a heavy vintage button from the 1980s. It matched my left sleeve almost perfectly.
Grandma Ruth walked up behind me holding a warm brown plastic tub of Country Crock.
Inside was homemade chicken noodle soup.
"Don't you bring that tub back empty," she said softly, folding my collar down with both hands. "An empty tub just means I gotta fill it again next Sunday."
I stood on her porch in the Ohio wind holding a fake tub of butter with a real button on my sleeve.
You cannot infiltrate a fortress guarded by a woman who turns cookie tins into armories and strangers into grandsons.

aji-keshi means you played a move that erases the potential of the position.
Hey, Siri: show me an example of aji-keshi.
