My eldest daughter snapped my official "Back to Work for 2024" snap which after more than six months off felt like a moment. Sooo happy (if a little rusty 🫠🙃) to be back.
I am incredibly grateful for @Jess_Rudd & the team for ensuring @the_parenthood soared in my absence.
We're excited!!! 🤗
@georgiedent is back from her sabbatical.

This is brilliant for families. The Activity Test was always horrible public policy that impacted on low income families the most. abc.net.au/news/2024-12-10/a…
Cracking interview with @JayWeatherill & @PatsKarvelas today following @AlboMP’s announcement of the abolishment of the punitive activity test that locks as many as 126,000 children out of early childhood education and care. #OzEarlyEd

NB. An important fact check. Families on incomes up to $530k *already* have access to subsidised care. Changing the activity test will overwhelmingly benefit children from families on the other end of the income spectrum. #ozearlyed #thrivebyfive
A childcare lender asks for a universal wage increase administered through the tax system with absolutely no trade off on system reform or parent fees, in the same breath as claiming the taxpayer can’t afford a universal fixed fee model?

Hey Siri,
Tell me why the Child Care Subsidy is broken.
Government invests additional $5billion to reduce out of pocket costs for families by 13%.
Fast forward one year and guess what? Providers have - on average - increased fees by 12%.

This 👇madness is why @the_parenthood wants genuine funding reform: free ECEC for low income families & a set fixed fee for everyone else. #OzEarlyEd
This is brilliant news for 12,000 early childhood educators - and all of the children & families whom their valuable work supports. It's expected that a further 16,000 educators will lock in the same wage increase in the coming weeks.

"We are sleepwalking into a market that is going to be dominated by large, for-profit providers," Dr Croser-Barlow said. “Large, for-profit providers, on average, are lower quality, higher costs for families and pay their staff less."
