Uganda is a critical avian hotspot, home to over 1,090 bird species, nearly half of Africa's total and about 11% of the world's bird population.
Despite this richness, Uganda's bird populations are in steep decline due to human activity.
The run is designed to engage the public through sports bringing together runners, students, and conservationists to raise awareness and funds for habitat restoration, rescue operations, and community education.

A week. Two cities. Melbourne and Brisbane.
@TourismBoardUg, @ugwildlife, our tour operators, and the Uganda High Commission in @ugandacanberra under H.E. Ambassador Dorothy Samalie Hyuha just wrapped a full roadshow with the Australian travel trade.
Why Australia? Because Australian travelers stay longer, spend more, and go deeper into a destination when they choose it.
That is the Pearl of Africa traveler. And we went to find them where they are.

Uganda remains one of the best places in the world to see the rare Shoebill in its natural habitat, and the crown jewel of these sightings is the Mabamba Bay Wetland near Entebbe.
A designated Ramsar Wetland of International Importance, Mabamba is a labyrinth of papyrus channels on the northern shore of Lake Victoria. The experience itself is an adventure: you board a narrow, motorized canoe or a traditional paddled boat and glide silently through the thick vegetation, the only sounds being the dip of the paddle and the calls of over 200 other bird species, including the African Jacana and Malachite Kingfisher.
At Travad Tours Uganda, we understand that the magic of the Shoebill lies in the details. The best time to find this elusive bird is early morning, when the heat is low and the chances of a sighting are highest . Our expert local guides, who know the Mabamba channels like the backs of their hands, will help you navigate the swamp with patience and precision, maximizing your chances of witnessing this globally threatened species . We don't just offer a boat ride; we offer an intimate audience with one of Africa's most sought-after avian treasures.
Book with us to secure your guided canoe experience and expert birding guide.

Planting a tree is one thing. Protecting it long enough to grow is another.
Our local tree shields help protect young seedlings from grazing animals, accidental damage and other disturbances, giving them a better chance to establish and thrive.🌳
Simple, locally made solutions can make a real difference, especially when paired with regular monitoring and care.
At #Treescape, we believe restoration goes beyond putting seedlings in the ground. It means nurturing them into trees that will support communities, biodiversity and future generations.
Plant it. Shield it. Nurture it. Let it grow.

What if your next trip left more than memories? What if it left trees growing and communities thriving?
Tree-planting experiences give travellers a chance to connect with local communities, learn about the environment and contribute to the places they visit.
Beyond planting, these experiences can support local livelihoods, strengthen conservation efforts and inspire a deeper connection between people and nature.
With #ecotourism, you don’t just visit a destination. You become part of its story.
Travel with purpose. Plant a legacy.

What does your favourite sport leave behind?🏉🌱
Beyond the scores and celebrations, sporting events have an opportunity to create lasting change, from planting and caring for trees to reducing waste and engaging young people in climate action.
Through initiatives like #GreeningTheGame with @SwansSportsClub, we can turn the passion that brings people together on the field into action that benefits communities and the environment.
Imagine fans cheering for their teams today and enjoying the shade of trees planted for tomorrow.🌳
Play with passion. Protect the planet. Leave a greener legacy.

Zai pits: Small pits, big potential
Zai pits are small planting holes dug into the soil to capture rainwater and concentrate organic matter around crops. They help reduce runoff and improve water availability, especially in dry areas.
A simple technique can help farmers make better use of every drop.
Happy #WorldFoodDay!
Healthy soil is the foundation of food security. As climate change makes rainfall less predictable, conservation farming helps farmers protect soil, conserve water and build resilience and protect the land that feeds us.
At #Treescape, we believe growing food and restoring nature must go hand in hand.
