I think the most disappointing part about Nithya’s campaign is how disorganizing it has been both for our chapter and nationally. This was the most contentious endorsement in chapter history. If I’m not excited (as a DSA sicko) about her campaign, why would average Angelenos be?
The SFV branch showed up to her canvass and her campaign literally told us to move out of the way. This sort of treatment burns out our leaders and makes our organization weaker. We should not be okay with disrespect towards our members.
something like this 🧐

hot take but antisemitism is bad and you do not care more about islamaphobia than the most publicly known Muslim politician in the United States (source: YouGov)
The Talmud teaches that anyone who sustains one soul, has sustained an entire world. For generations, Jewish New Yorkers have sustained our city. Today, we are launching the first-ever municipal Strategy to Combat Antisemitism.
Together, we will ensure Jewish New Yorkers are safe and celebrated. We will invest in their protection, their history, and their future.
Our safety and our thriving are tied together.

Our electeds will fuck up, especially in executive offices. What are the scenarios in which DSA should still endorse? I would argue, when we know the candidate is an organizer first. When they use their power to bolster the protagonism of the working class.

Open this article and ctrl+F for "zionism" "Israel" or "IHRA". It's only mentioned in reference to her meaningless promises that she'll for some reason be different in the future with power than she was in the past.
Then remember that throughout the anti-zionist mass movement, DSA-LA was essentially completely iced out of that organizing because of the actions of Nithya Raman specifically and the org's relation to her.
Analysis like this without any connection to the actual history of the way that Nithya has operated is wish casting. You aren't voting for the person you wish Nithya was, you aren't voting for the person Nithya tells you that she will be (politicians LIE), you're voting for who Nithya has proven herself to be through 5 years of votes.
In those 5 years, she has consistently betrayed every mass movement she's ever used as a stepping stone to her own power.
After a contentious debate that has claimed center stage in the organization's discourse, a cross-tendency group of DSA-LA leaders argues for endorsing Nithya Raman for mayor against liberal incumbent Karen Bass. The authors believe this decision will consolidate other chapter campaigns around the most high-profile race in the city, engage with the material realities of the working class, and move Los Angeles closer to DSA's ultimate political horizon. The endorsement vote begins today and runs until September 1st. If you are a member of DSA-LA, make your voice heard by casting your vote before the deadline.

Just dropped a new article. We are not seeking just to make a miserable society more tolerable; we want to completely transform it.
DSA-LA members should vote against endorsing Nithya Raman for Mayor. She doesn’t share our politics. socialistcall.com/2026/08/25…
