That’s RFC 7901. There is some support for this in unbound I believe that is used by getdns for the draft-{.ise-}tls-dnssec-chain but it would be good to see it supported more (bind and dig and knot would be nice)

I finally set up DNS over TLS using cloudflare’s DNS 1.1.1.1 and stubby. It works like a charm. This should be the standard going forward for enhanced privacy and security.

Getdns will offer endsystem access to dns-over-https at next release, coming soon.
