Shopify App Store faces a problem today. It has become a race to see who can build the most features. But a business is more than that 🤷‍♂️ Because as soon as a competitor builds more than you, you lose. So build relationships with your merchants, partners, etc. They will choose you not just based on features, but because they like the "brand" and the team behind it. I'd like to know how many Shopify Apps would survive if the Shopify App Store disappeared tomorrow.

Some programming guidance I give is to understand at least one layer of abstraction above & below the layer you're working at. Ex: consider UX + VMs when writing JS. A few years ago Expo Android needed code that can't be expressed w/Java → ended up writing JVM bytecode directly.

While we’re at it, let’s stop using reviews and installs as such heavy ranking indicators. If I was @Shopify I would rank apps based on the correlation between installs and impact on likelihood of success of stores.

@jmwind @BrandonMChu Let's make the App Store reviews a fair playground in 2020. Lot of app developers work really hard to deserve a review, but some just game the system. New merchants might fall for apps which are half baked and not even supported.
