I built an AI radio station that runs in my house, plays only my music, and has no skip button. Taking the controls away turned out to be the whole point.

By the end you'll have a station running on one computer: your music, a DJ that chooses the next track and talks between them, and a live stream you can open in a browser or app. h3r3.com/writing/set-up-your…

Five months ago I started building a radio station for my own music library.
Today it has an AI DJ that picks songs and talks between them, takes requests, runs fully local, and has iOS, Android and desktop apps. Strangers are running their own stations on it.
Solo, open source, MIT.
Made an intro video. Would love honest feedback from people who’ve shipped things: does it make sense in the first 10 seconds?

Started building a self-hosted AI radio station 2 months ago. ~1,250 commits later it has 6 TTS engines, native apps, an MCP server, and 7 public stations in 6 countries.
Turns out “what if my Ollama box was a radio DJ” was a deep rabbit hole. – at West Bromwich, England

Desktop app built with @vercel @ctatedev Native SDK.
Zig, native rendering, no Electron. Views are markup, logic is Zig, and it compiles into the binary. That's how a full radio app lands at 2.6 MB. 🤯
Been a while since a UI stack felt this good.
