This journey definitely presented new challenges BUT through it all the mindset to finish the job remained the focus!
In the end, you only want to do right by the students, families & staff you serve! Showing off this staff was a no brainer b/c they work hard for kids. Thank you Superintendent Dr. Mason, Board Pres. Johnson & Board member Dr. Roberson for taking the time to “see” this Staff too!
This week, I had the opportunity to visit one of my favorite Alvin ISD principals, Dr. Garnet Foster, who leads the ADAPT Program, Alvin ISD’s Disciplinary Alternative Education Program (DAEP).
Dr. Foster welcomed Superintendent Dr. Rhonda Mason, Board President A.J. Johnson III, and me for a campus tour. The halls were clear and quiet, learning was taking place in every classroom, and every staff member we encountered greeted us with joy. This campus is a gem and serves a vital role in our district.
I have long admired Dr. Foster’s leadership, and I was blessed that we could support each other’s doctoral research exploring the experiences of African American male principals. That shared journey makes witnessing his impact even more meaningful.
Dr. Foster, thank you for your transformative leadership and for modeling what it means to transcend all.
To Dr. Foster and the entire ADAPT staff: #WeSeeYOU, and we appreciate you!
Goal setting is not only about the academics but also behavior. Shout out to Ms. Garcia for leading a reflective session on tracking behavior goals with her class. What I did well, what I need to improve on, and what did I do to affect it either way.
New school year and a whole new level of energy and excitement.
Even when…. No, especially when you are a team of one, you have to keep learning things to be better for your students. TASSP conference = more items in the toolbox!
When you have been at a job for a while & continue to preform at a high standard, your consistency may result in being overlooked. Bias, maybe, but 🗣️ shout out & congratulations to my favorite lead counselor, Mrs. Foster and the MHS counseling team for your Crest Award.
Shout out 🗣️Happy Counselor’s week to our counselor Mr. Johnson! Cool, calm and all about making sure both the students & staff are ok! He is definitely one of the keys to ADAPT’s success!
Congratulations to the ADAPT campus’s Teacher of the Year, Paraprofessional of the Year and Rookie Teacher of the Year! ADAPT is a very unique campus and Mrs. Garcia, Ms. Peterson & Mr. Clore were recognized, by a very good staff, as outstanding!
Had an opportunity this morning to be out in our community participating in the city of Iowa Colony’s Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. parade w/ the Brothers of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity. Also had a chance to see some of my SLE family.☀️💙💛
~The possibilities of fulfilling the Dream
I saw the balloons in my office today and thought someone was playing a joke! (I’m not 75 or 57)
She isn’t 57 either. We do celebrate Ms. Stable’s 57 STUDENTS who were published in the Young Writers publication! I challenged her, she challenged them, they accepted! Her 3rd time.
They already know the what & the why it happened. We aim to shape or reshape the “how” to handle the this or that moment moving forward. It starts with “you are” more than “you are not”! Our staff wants them to see it at every turn.
Welcome back! The first day is always filled with a certain excitement and energy! As best we can, leaders want to bottle it up and save some for the long school year! Today was a loose, laugh and learn kind of day.
2025 -2026 school year has begun!
Conflict Resilience presentation @TexasSouthern college of education. Mr. Robert Bordone really broke down what it meant and the importance of it.
As Counselor Appreciation Week comes to an end, I would like to thank all the wonderful school counselors working with students! A special shot out to our counselor Mr. Johnson who shows up everyday to do what’s needed for our students!
Congratulations to the ADAPT campus’s 2024-2025 teacher and para of the year!
Ms. K. Stabel - T.O.Y.
Ms. K. Collins - P.O.Y.
Huge shout out to our ELA teacher Ms. Stabel. 10 of her students were selected by the Young Writers "Fright Club" online writing contest and will be published in a book!
We love to see students continue to strive for greatness!
