Much punchier accusations from Sir Malcolm Rifkind - a former defence and foreign secretary:
"I choose my words very carefully. I think this week Donald Trump has shown himself as a person to be repulsive; as a President of the United States to be a disgrace to his own people as well as to his international responsibilities.
"We all know his actual reasons for this are a grubby attempt to win a few more votes in the midterms by trying to get oil prices down.
"In order to achieve that, he has not only betrayed Ukraine in the middle of a war, fighting for its very existence, but he is also directly - not indirectly - directly responsible for the deaths of many Ukrainians who will not now be protected by the attempts that have been successfully made using intelligence provided indirectly by the United States."

He said the idea that Russia was betrayed is a myth. Which triggers my trolls.

🇮🇹🇺🇦 WOW! WHAT A SPEECH! WHAT POWERFUL WORDS FROM ITALIAN PRIME MINISTER GIORGIA MELONI!
Here is the full five-minute excerpt of her speech devoted to Ukraine and Donald Trump.
“Russia has launched a new autumn campaign against Ukraine.
Unable to advance on the battlefield, Moscow has increasingly turned its attacks against civilians: power plants, residential buildings, hospitals, and even buses carrying people to work, as in the horrific massacre in Kramatorsk.
This is a strategy through which Russia seeks to subjugate Ukraine with terror, cold, and darkness, simply because it has failed to conquer it on the battlefield.
The facts contradict Kremlin propaganda and those who spread it here.
Since the beginning of the year, Russia has captured very little territory, and in September it lost much of what it had previously seized.
This halt did not happen by chance. It was achieved through Ukraine’s courage and Western support, including that of Italy.
This resistance is the only effective instrument for bringing Russia to the negotiating table.
I respect and understand the passionate debate on this issue, including within this chamber, because nobody here wants war.
We all want peace.
The difference lies in how we intend to achieve it.
As I see it, supporting Ukraine is not an alternative to peace. It is what makes peace possible.
Because if an aggressor expects its opponent to surrender, why would it negotiate?
Surrender is not peace. It is conquest.
If Ukraine stopped defending itself tomorrow, as many suggest, we would not have peace.
We would be discussing the occupation of a European nation and the return of Soviet imperialism.
Personally, I do not miss those times. I do not miss Russian tanks crushing uprisings in Prague and Budapest.
I do not miss the Berlin Wall.
And nobody will ever convince me that the surrender of those defending their freedom can be called ‘peace.’
The peace we want, and the peace we are working toward, even at the cost of concessions, is a just peace, because only a just peace can endure.
Only a just peace can protect Europe and our interests.
That is why our government's position remains unchanged: support for Ukraine, with particular attention to civilians, pressure on Moscow, and Euro-Atlantic unity remain the pillars of our actions.
In this context, we must address Donald Trump's diesel agreement with Russia.
This is a decision I consider extremely risky.
Of course, we all recognize the need to contain fuel prices, which place a heavy burden on families, including Italian families.
But we must understand that rising prices are primarily linked to the war in Iran, not Ukraine.
Legitimizing Moscow, whose bombs continue to fall on Ukrainian cities, providing new revenues to finance the war, and weakening sanctions are all factors we cannot ignore.
And they contradict everything Western nations, including the United States, have done to force Putin to the negotiating table.
An energy ceasefire is a different matter, one that Italy supports, and we are grateful to President Zelenskyy for Ukraine's immediate willingness to agree to it.
Now we expect Russia to stop attacking Ukraine's energy infrastructure.
Finally, at such a difficult moment, when so many variables are beyond our control, there is at least one thing that depends on us:
We must ensure that Europe does not simply stand by and watch, because the terms of peace will affect our continent and our security.”
— Giorgia Meloni, Prime Minister of Italy

‘Effective immediate’ Trump wrote on ‘Truth Social’ at the weekend. ‘There is an energy ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine. Both sides have agreed.’
Not a single word of that post is true.
There is no energy ceasefire. It is not effective immediate.
Ukraine has agreed in principle. But Trump’s pal Putin has not.
Pal Putin refused when Trump last said there was an energy ceasefire (Sept 14 — bollocks then, bollocks now).
Russia is still trying to cripple Ukraine’s energy infrastructure in advance of winter.
There have been 196 Russian attacks on Ukrainian electricity in the past week. They continue. Over 20 attacks on Ukrainian oil and gas. They continue.
And 153 Ukrainians, mainly civilians, killed in these and other attacks on residential areas.
Yet Trump calls for Zelensky to be deposed, blames him for war continuing, high energy prices (NOT his failing war on Iran!).
Thank you for your attention to this matter.

I’m an American and a supporter of President Trump. I have been from the moment he came down that escalator in New York City and announced his candidacy. From the beginning, I’ve watched him take abuse and wicked assaults on his character and on his person that would never have been launched against anyone else. His courage in the face of those relentless onslaughts, which would have downed literally anyone else in politics, has been breathtaking and inspiring. He’s the only candidate whose opponents’ derangement drove up my support for him with every new excess. I don’t typically give to political campaigns, but I gave to Donald Trump – when the Democrats went more nuts, I sent more money.
I support President Trump on securing our border. I stand with the President on Israel, and in his opposition to the vile antisemitism sweeping through our politics and our culture. I applaud the President’s defense of the rights of the unborn. In those and so many other ways, I am unashamed in my support of President Donald Trump, and I’m MAGA to the core. Love me or hate me, that’s where I stand.
I’ve not liked everything the President has said, and as a Christian, there have been times I wish he had spoken and acted differently. But he was elected to be my president, not my pastor, and if the alternative is the Democrats and their unholy crusade to unmake America, well, I’ll stick with Trump.
Not to get carried away with my own importance – politically, I’m no one – but if the President were to lose someone like me, I’m not sure who he can keep. I say that because tonight, as I lay in bed unable to sleep here in Moldova, just an hour’s drive or so from the Ukrainian border, I am appalled at the action my President has taken on the importation of Russian diesel. Putting money in Putin’s pocket so he can attack and murder more Ukrainian civilians in their beds, just hours from my own, is wrong, Mr. President. It’s a political calculation ahead of the midterms, and it’s a callous, heartless one that I pray you rethink quickly.
I come to Moldova a lot, and America has done so much to help this small but beautiful nation. Its people deserve our support and our prayers. If Ukraine falls, so will Moldova; that’s just a fact. A policy that betrays them and lionizes Putin isn’t just wrongheaded. It is an evil policy, and it will get innocent men, women and children killed. Worse still, at least one senior administration official has pointed the finger at Ukraine. UN Ambassador Mike Waltz went on Fox and pointed to Ukraine’s strikes on Russian refineries as a reason diesel prices are high. True enough, but so what? It’s one of the few ways Ukraine can hit back at the nation that invaded it. If America were fighting this war, we’d flatten every refinery we could reach.
Putin is a bully. Putin is a thug. He’s the one who started this war, and no amount of equivocation or fatuous guff about who provoked whom can justify his tyranny and murderous campaign of terror in this region. Putin is the only reason this war continues, and the very one who could end it with a word. That’s not on President Zelensky, or the Ukrainian people, or the people of every nation in this part of the world living under threat from this fiend. This war, and the death, mayhem and suffering it is causing, is entirely of Putin’s making – period.
I have prayed for President Trump for years, and I will absolutely continue to do so. I’m sure he will never read this, but if he needs to know, I love him, I pray for him, and I ask God to guide him in what is the hardest job in the world. That’s exactly what makes this so painful: this policy comes from a president I love. He is wrong on this issue, and it’s a fatal error that I pray he remedies at the earliest opportunity. I pray God blesses President Trump, and I pray God blesses America. But I sincerely believe that the policies being pursued toward Ukraine right now are not something God can bless.

President Trump’s decision to lift sanctions on Russian fuel amidst Putin’s ongoing and brutal attacks on civilian targets in Ukraine makes no sense and is a betrayal of the legacy and leadership of the late Senator Lindsey Graham.
While Ukraine fights for its survival, Putin’s war machine continues to prosecute his terrorist war on civilian populations and innocent Ukrainians are dying every day.
Now, Instead of implementing the tough sanctions Lindsey Graham fought to his last breath to enact, President Trump has announced the United States is lifting sanctions on Russian energy, fueling the Putin’s war machine.
As I saw firsthand in Ukraine last month, Putin is losing this war. Ukraine has fought the Russian military to a standstill and reinvented warfare with drones taking the fight into the heart of Russia.
America should not be throwing a lifeline to Putin’s war machine. Now is the time to stand strong against Russian aggression as we did during the first Trump administration.
Putin doesn’t want peace. Putin wants Ukraine. I have no doubt that if Putin overruns Ukraine, it will only be a matter of time until Russia’s military crosses a border that our troops will have to deal with him.
America is the Leader of the Free World. For our National Security, for the security of our Allies in Europe including Ukraine, President Trump should rescind this deal immediately and return to the strong policies of our four years in the White House; impose harsh sanctions on any nation purchasing Russian energy and work with our allies to ensure Ukraine has the military support it needs to repel and defeat this Russian invasion once and for all. Trump’s diesel deal with Putin makes no sense (it’s also immoral since it will fund the ailing Kremlin war machine).
The US has no need of Russian diesel. It already refines more than enough for domestic demand — with 1.5m b/d for export.
Russia has no diesel to export. Ukrainian drones have taken out a third of Russian refining capacity, turning Russia into a net importer of diesel (from India).
The volumes involved are derisory. The initial Russian offer = 2.2m barrels. The US consumes 3.5m b/d.
The price of diesel at the US pump is between $6/6.50. That won’t change before the midterms. The deal does nothing to help Trump in these elections.
But it bolsters Putin and undermines Ukraine.

As a Muslim Arab, I am disgusted and heartbroken by what I saw across Western cities on October 7, 2026: people celebrating the October 7, 2023 massacre. Glorifying the murder, rape, and kidnapping of civilians is morally bankrupt, inhumane, and a disgrace to humanity. This wasn’t an ISIS or Al-Qaeda camp. This was in Western cities: people openly celebrating a massacre carried out by the filthy Muslim Brotherhood terrorists of Hamas against Jewish children, women, and civilians from all around the world in Israel. Utterly shameful.
How did we reach a point where this needs to be explained? An eight-month-old baby was kidnapped. Women were raped. Children were murdered. Families were slaughtered. Human beings were dragged from their homes.
No cause justifies this.
No country justifies this.
No grievance justifies this.
Nothing justifies raping a woman. Nothing justifies kidnapping a baby. Nothing justifies murdering innocent people.
And to see people in Western cities celebrating, glorifying, excusing, romanticising, or sanitising this horror in the name of “democracy” and “freedom of speech” is beyond disgusting.
It is morally bankrupt. Shameful. Depraved. Inhumane. Heartless. Indefensible.
What breaks my heart most is that we are even having this conversation.
When did rape require a political explanation?
When did kidnapping babies become something to celebrate?
When did massacring Jews become something people could cheer for in the streets and still pretend they were standing for humanity?
There is nothing progressive about celebrating barbarity. There is nothing courageous about glorifying terrorism. There is nothing democratic about cheering a massacre.
This is not humanity. This is a moral disgrace.
And the fact that anyone can celebrate such suffering should make every decent human being, Muslim, Christian, Jewish, or otherwise, feel both heartbroken and furious.

OCTOBER 7, 2023: SHE KNEW SHE WAS GOING TO DIE.
Libi Cohen-Meguri, a 22-year-old infantry officer, went to the Nova music festival.
She was shot while fleeing the party. At 8:11 a.m., she called her parents and said:
“I’ve been shot in the stomach, I’ve been shot in the arm, I’m losing blood. I’m going to die.”
Calmly, quietly, she understood; these were the last minutes of her life.
She asked her parents to call Tomer, her twin brother, and Maya, her little sister, and said:
“I’m going to die. I just want you to listen to me.
I love you, Yariv. You’re the best father I could have asked for.
Mom, stop screaming. Just listen to me. You are the best mother we could have ever had. Don’t forget to be a good mother to Tomer and Maya after I die.
Tomer, how lucky we were to live this life together. I love you.
My Maya, never forget—you are the treasure of my life.”
When she finished speaking, her parents told her to get out of the car, lie down on the road, and pretend to be dead.
With her last bit of strength, she got out of the car and laid down on the road.
“Mom, they’re coming to shoot me again,” Libi said after lying down.
While her mother listened on the phone, shouts in Arabic could be heard, and then a barrage of gunfire.
It didn’t stop.
It kept going, until the call was disconnected.
And that’s how Libi died—with demonic beasts from the pit of hell standing over her and emptying a full magazine into her body.
Libi died with LOVE on her lips: love for life, love for her family, and love for her people.
Her memory will forever be a blessing.
NEVER FORGET.
NEVER FORGIVE.
NEVER AGAIN IS NOW.
Israel is hunting down every single Palestinian and Hamas terrorist who participated in the October 7th Massacre—to kill them all.
They’re living on “borrowed time,” Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said.
Sooner or later, every one of these monsters will be found and eliminated.

Three contractors are bidding to fix a broken fence at the Downing Street.
One is from London, another is from Birmingham and the third is from Manchester.
All three go with a Downing Street official to examine the fence.
The London contractor takes out a tape measure and does some measuring, then works some figures with a pencil.
"Well," he says, "I figure the job will run about £900. £400 for materials, £400 for my crew, and £100 profit for me."
The Birmingham contractor also does some measuring and figuring, then says,
"I can do this job for £700. £300 for materials, £300 for my crew, and £100 profit for me."
The Manchester contractor doesn't measure or figure, but leans over to the Downing Street official and whispers, "£2,700."
The official, incredulous, says, "You didn't even measure like the other guys! How did you come up with such a high figure?"
The Manchester contractor whispers back, "£1000 for me, £1000 for you, and we hire the guy from Birmingham to fix the fence."
"Done!" replies the government official. And that, my friends, is how our government works.
It may be funny but, sadly, it's also very accurate.
