Repost so everyone stays informed: DO NOT email them DO NOT sign up DO NOT give them money for audio books DO NOT sign up for monetisation of works DO NOT download This seems to be a huge data scrape of deleted & available works uploaded to Ao3 only. Just DON'T INTERACT!!

I did once when I drew a lot of Vat7k fanart! It was a oneshot but it captured so much of what I was going for in the sketch, loved every word <3

most writers I know would be pretty happy to receive art of their fic, but I wonder if it ever works in reverse --- if anyone would be happy receiving fic inspired by their art. I just never really see cases like that, so I'm a little curious...

Valeriy meeting Mitya's Domovoy parents can only be funnier if Mitya goes to meet his parents and is just a family of giants towering over him

some ppl need to actually read fandom history cuz downloading & saving fics is the only reason some fandoms survived the livejournal purge. thousands of fics & communities nuked not cuz authors deleted their fics, but cuz lj didn't want queer content on their site anymore.

So like both of them are illegal! But cons and fandom culture have normalized the selling of fanart at events (especially doujinshi artists). Meanwhile it is discouranged for fanfic because ao3 being an online site doesn’t want to get in trouble, so they don't allow any mention-

Does anyone mind explaining to me why making money off fanfiction commissions is illegal but art commissions of fandom characters is ok?

Of monetization because it could cause legal trouble. And fanart does get taken down depending on the ip sometimes. But if you're just selling, let's say, a writting prompt commission, you should be good; also if you have a patreon. It's just not okay on ao3 to protect the site

I do wonder how will they work the POV of the narrative, cause part of why Jimmy's character works so well is because we play the game as him, with no context to his personality that you slowly see in the dialogue and think: "what an asshole"
