A chilled out day at @TullieHouse with Romans, Vikings, Reivers, Jacobites and of course the spectacular new Costume Gallery. You won’t get a better journey through time than that.

We had the most amazing moment recently; a customer came in and, after paying for his own books, bought £100 worth of £10 gift vouchers for us to give to random customers. He didn't give his name and didn't ask for anything in return – it was purely a lovely gift to strangers!!!!

Good luck to venues across Cumbria who are in the process of reopening this week. Never easy to change ways of working but how great that art and culture is being presented again to Cumbrians and visitors. Thank you to all teams, leaders and volunteers.

On a visit to Carlisle in 1787 Robert Burns stayed at the Malt Shovel Inn in Rickergate. After a night on the town he returned to find his horse had escaped and was impounded, found grazing on Corporation land ‘The Bitts’. The incident cost Burns a fine to the Mayor. #BurnsNight

My brother is a baker for a large supermarket, he never was furloughed or had the opportunity to stay safe at home, never missed a shift and got on with it. Dealing with idiot customers that were rude and ignorant and entitled . Let’s hear it for those in retail who keep us fed.

If you’re going to the beach and there’s nowhere to park, don’t illegally use a farmers field...especially when they are spreading slurry.
Only in Cornwall 🤣

What the nation was looking for this evening was clarity and consensus.
The truth is, the Prime Minister’s statement raises more questions than it answers.
Those questions need answering if the public is going to have confidence in what happens next.

It seems the countryside is ‘open’ on Weds. Have the owners & managers of parks, nature reserves etc been consulted/briefed? Or is this set to be an unholy squabble about car parks & toilets? Stay home, stay safe & avoid chaos & continue to actually protect the NHS seems best.

I was lucky to get to courier some of our gorgeous #PreRaphaelite artworks to #Japan last year, but they’re back at @TullieHouse now, ready to visit when we reopen!

3 wks ago we were told those working in supermarkets, social care & cleaners were “low skilled”- now these are the people crucial to managing #COVID19 outbreak. Everyone plays their part in society - these workers deserve decent wages & sick pay not just now but always.
