something about this feels wrong

Acting like the black church is not A) an institution that B) routinely exercises power over C) its own queer members and D) queers within their nearby electorate 😭😩😭😩😭 unserious and uncritical
“Black people have little to no systemic power to contribute to systemic homophobia” “HERES THIS ONE BLACK GUY WHO DID THO” “Hey so there is a few Black people in power that can do that, that’s what ‘Little to none means’”. “BUT BLACK PEOPLEEEEE”

I wish some of y’all would read a book before you start trying to use the vocab 😭

Saying non-queer Black people have 'cishet privilege' completely misses how intersectionality works. u can't isolate sexuality from race. A straight, cis Black person still deals with systemic racism, police brutality, and socio-economic barriers. You gotta be trolling

There are a lot of QPOC explaining over and over and over that they also cannot hide their sexuality any more than they can their race and you inexplicably keep ignoring them.
the closet doesn’t exist for black people. that is the whole point. that’s not to say that you’re privileged or that it’s easy to deny your identity. the whole point is that when you’re black, you cannot innately deny your identity. antiblackness is not 1:1 with queerphobia.

these people are basically saying everything is a choice atp
the point is that transitioning is a choice. you are choosing to be visibly queer. by choice. you’re making the decision. being black isn’t a choice. there’s no decision making in being a poc. what don’t you get?

This entire thread is disheartening; a bunch of black people telling queer people (often black too) that being in the shadows and not being able to be who they are is a "privilege".
well some of us are trans and actually visibly queer and thus cannot just "hide" it. it's almost like you're more privileged in this respect. some of us cannot hide either our blackness or our queerness!

Its also not lost on me that the black trans people in this conversation are being deliberately, maliciously painted as white in order to exclude them. Black trans people are tossed aside in trans communities and tossed aside in black communities

Why are white queers comparing anything when Black queer folk literally experience both

Transition is a choice in the same way opening your parachute is a choice when you go skydiving

Gen Z remaining bizarrely transphobic and homophobic is such a mind fuck

I find the whole “which type of oppression is worse” debates silly but to believe homophobia isn’t systemic you’ll have to have such a narrow definition of “systemic” as to make it entirely useless.
Replying to @cntyvrgo
homophobia is not a form of systemic oppression and in the instances where it IS systemic it’s a result of misogyny

I just know this lady got her degree from the University of Phoenix.
The Black infant mortality rate is higher now than during slavery. Thought you should know momentum.medium.com/why-blac…
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
The link says the infant mortality gap is larger. Infant mortality is much lower today, and the gap of actual infant deaths is much smaller. In 1850, estimated infant mortality: black-340, white-217 per 1000 births. In 2024 black-10.98, white-4.41 per 1000 births. momentum.medium.com/why-black-infa… ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK62353…

What's between your legs is, frankly, not that relevant to you having sex. And honestly, most girls would probably *prefer* you pretend it's not there anyway.

long covid is hilarious because all the evidence we have says that it exists and not only does it exist but it’s extremely widespread and serious and yet we collectively refuse to acknowledge this reality because the bottom would fall out of the stock market if we did

The most unfuckable loser imaginable is chiming in:
No woman should ever do what she did and complain about his reaction. I would have done the same thing. Why is staff pushing a player?

You cannot hate people like this enough:
When I'm responding to a medical code and people are in my way, I tell them "excuse me" and GENTLY guide my way through, because it is already a stressful situation. That was suspected gender/racial privilege she was portraying mixed with a lack of emotional intelligence.
