As an elder millennial who came of age when Google became a verb, I had difficulty grasping that ~40% of Gen Zers use TikTok for search.
So I hosted a mini-focus group with Gen Zers to learn more.
Here are 3 takeaways:

Here's @ylecun in 1993(!) demoing LeNet-1.
This was the world's first convolutional neural network for handwriting recognition. Today—29 years later—this same approach powers the majority of computer vision.
Such a historical moment, and breakthrough for machine learning.

To me, remote work is liberating because it removes the requirement that I "appear" busy.
I can lay on the floor and stare at the ceiling to solve a problem or reset my brain.
I don't have to pretend to be looking at an IDE.

I believe Trump’s “when the looting starts, the shooting starts” tweet (cross-posted to FB), encourages extra-judicial violence and stokes racism. Respect to @Twitter’s integrity team for making the enforcement call.

If our workplace team was a startup - definitely be a unicorn. Pretty cool to see the growth. This is the same product that nearly 50k FB employees use every day to get their work done.

Dear companies hiring designers,
I got beef with you. But not for long bc you’re gonna fix this.
NONE of you are shouting out about hiring young designers + offering mentorship/teaching programs. It’s all this senior, lead, 3+5 yr yada.
Fix this. It’d be beneficial for all.

This is what FB developers will see in their local sandbox when building features for the upcoming redesign. Regardless of your stance on FB the company, this is a really powerful example of how a considered developer experience can directly impact the end user experience.
