As someone who struggled a long time to find a job and experienced all these feelings, I have deep empathy for everyone in this article who’s going through the pain right now.

Don’t have stats on this but it seems like anyone who is entering the workforce for the first time, and anyone over 50 who has been laid off is finding it impossible to secure a new job.

This is the crucial point. The problem with capitalism is that even when it's competitive, the profit motive drives companies toward exploiting workers, screwing consumers, and trashing the environment. You can't save capitalism with more competition.
Marxist economist @profdavidharvey on Abdul El-Sayed's defense of capitalism & choice to quote Adam Smith:
"Why is the incentive profit?...Yeah it's nice to have competition, but competition about what? Competition about having the best healthcare system in the world? No. Competition about higher education?...No. Competition to do what? Competition to make a profit. And it's the whole profit side of things that's absolutely crucial. And that's what has to be controlled."

Follow and engage to get up to the minute analysis on the AI Ponzi Scheme unfolding right now.
Anyone concerned that a reckless race to AGI is bad for AI safety and ethics should be deeply concerned about the pending frontier lab IPOs. If they go forward, the current race will look quaint by comparison. A public company's stock is worth zero today if the company will not be worth more in the future. The relentless grind of quarterly earnings will make it impossible to pause growth and focus on safety. The race to AGI is gas on a fire. The race to AGI plus public quarterly growth targets is napalm on gas on the fire.

Why are two Democratic governors in two of America's bluest states using their power to try to kill ballot initiatives to raise taxes on billionaires?

Capitalism is inherently self-destructive, because it requires infinite growth, which is impossible. In order to emulate "growth," capitalism is desperately trying to automate as much labor as possible.
Making billions every year isn't enough. The profit must *increase.*

The "Middle Class" didn't disappear, it was deliberately dismantled. In 1978, CEO pay was 30x the average worker. Today it's 351x. They didn't get 351x smarter or work 351x harder. They just rewrote the rules so all the productivity gains go to the top while you get a pizza party.

'Socialists want free stuff' is capitalism's great lie. They want the fruits of our labor shared fairly, instead of letting the richest 1% hold nearly half the world's wealth.

The Department of Education is simultaneously cutting staff by 50% *and* trying to ramp up debt collection efforts on student loans *while* gutting affordable repayment plans, raising people's bills and being unresponsive to its own errors. This system is a disaster.

We are demanding data centers prioritize our climate, our planet, and our futures, NOW!

I’LL SAY IT AGAIN:
If your job requires a college degree, you should be able to write off your student loan payments as a business expense the way CEOs write off their private jets and yachts for their jobs which require neither.
