This is fantastic. Well done.
The medieval poets did not believe that the heavens fatalistically determined our future, but they did believe they each had a character that influenced the spiritual climate. Take my short quiz to find out which sphere you most naturally belong to! mythicmindfellowship.com/sph…

Scrolling Poshmark and finding all the J.Crew sweaters I loved as a teenager but couldn’t afford. They’re all in the vintage category now. Must have one. For my younger self.

Are women more susceptible to mimetic desire? I sense that they are, but I don’t know for sure. I mean, I’ve seen it in male social groups, but there’s a reason IG and TikTok are female-influencer driven. Need to understand this.

Much of Cormac McCarthy's success is realizing this & (in the literary world) returning to it, conserving it. His prose was an alloy of Hemingway, Faulkner, & Bacon's crew. The result: he sounded like an American existing simultaneously across & speaking from all eras.

A family friend once asserted that the conversational/ literary finesse & eloquence of Southerners was a consequence of the KJV. As the 1 book nearly everyone read, or had read to them, it infused our speech with beauty & vitality. Moving away from it was to our detriment.

Was raised KJV only and then became whatever the theological version of a hicklib is in my 20s, but now I am a KJV supremacist and will prob exclusively quote from the KJV from now on. It’s just so good. So rich.

Saw a dreamy perfect shade of green cashmere sweater today that costs a bajillion dollars, and now I am crossing myself and asking the Holy Spirit to help me remember to lay up my treasures in heaven where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt.

If you have beef on here my guess is that you don’t have enough real life stuff going on, so you have to make up problems on the internet. Everyone would prob be better off if they were suffering a little more in their offline life.

I know a group of friends in a town where I used to live who get together this time every year to make and can apple butter. Five couples have been holding the tradition for at least 10 years, and now their children are grown and married, and *they* join in on the festivities. And if that is not the Good Life I do not know what is.

Surely one of my mutuals would be perfect for this
I am looking to commission someone to research and write a long-form essay on the broader cultural effects of Vatican II aesthetics outside of the Church—showing how liturgical life, art, and the role of the priest and religious changed in the popular imagination, and how this rippled through American life in unexpected ways. It's the history that I've already wanted to read, but this particular thread doesn't exist. I'll oversee the project as managing editor, but I am looking for a stellar person and excellent writer—or a team—to undertake the bulk of the research and production. Do you know the right person/people for this work? Ready to begin immediately, with a release of the work as an essay with visual and graphical adornments—think a New York Times feature story—sometime in the first half of next year.

If our children outlive us mothers, we will have to entrust these tender, vulnerable moments to someone who is not us. And it pains us deeply to not be able to comfort our babies even when they are ninety. Especially when they are ninety.
excuse me while I sob thinking of my babies as old people
